The famous salame and new fava beans celebrate in the Polcevera Valley
Sant'Olcese, a small municipality in the Polcevera Valley in the Province of Genoa, owes much of its fame to one product: Sant'Olcese salame, a historic cured sausage made from pork and beef, with a long artisanal tradition. The festival, organized by the Circolo ACLI Sant'Olcese along with local associations, celebrates its deliciousness every spring.
The signature dish of the day is the pairing of local salame, fresh fava beans, and Sardinian cheese, accompanied by taglierini with fava bean pesto. The stalls open at noon on the Church Square and offer regional specialties in a village festival atmosphere, with stalls selling local products.
Live music accompanies lunch and the afternoon, with the Folk & Beans Cover Band, while the village comes alive with markets and a convivial atmosphere that is the true spirit of the event. Sant'Olcese, whose name recalls the bishop whose relics are kept in the parish church, rediscovers its agricultural roots on a day of taste and tradition.
The 29th edition of the Fava Beans and Salame Festival enlivens Sant'Olcese on Saturday, April 25, 2026. On the Church Square, the Circolo ACLI stalls open at noon, offering Sant'Olcese salame with fresh fava beans and Sardinian cheese, and taglierini with fava bean pesto. Accompanying the day are markets, local products, and music by the Folk & Beans Cover Band.
