Fantasy Festival: contemporary circus in the heart of Monferrato
Every spring, the small village of Frassinello Monferrato, in the province of Alessandria, turns into a widespread stage thanks to the Fantasy Festival, a contemporary circus, street art, and music event organized by the MagdaClan circo company. Nestled in the hills of the Piedmontese Monferrato, the village's Green Area hosts the circus big top, open-air performances, and an ever-growing audience drawn by high-quality artistic programming and a festive, family-friendly atmosphere.
A company that calls Monferrato home
The festival is rooted in the local territory, led by the artistic direction of Elena Bosco and Giulio Lanfranco. Over the years, Frassinello Monferrato has become the company's headquarters, where they pitch their tent and invite Italian and international artists to share the stage. Fantasy Festival is much more than just a series of shows; it is the story of a partnership between a group of circus performers and a village community that has chosen to embrace culture as a driver for identity and hospitality.
Contemporary circus, clowning, and street arts
The program features a mix of high-level acrobatics, clowning, physical theater, juggling, and musical performances. Evening shows, which require tickets and reservations, are complemented by free or donation-based daytime events designed for families and children. Alongside the main program, visitors can enjoy ecological walks with the artists, yoga sessions, DJ sets, a craft market, and the flavors of Monferrato, from wood-fired pizzas to local products.
A widespread festival between Frassinello and Moncalvo
While its heart lies in Frassinello Monferrato, the festival extends to other local landmarks, such as the Teatro Civico of Moncalvo, broadening its geographical reach. The multi-day and weekend format allows the public to follow the entire artistic journey or choose individual evenings, all while discovering the villages and hilly landscapes of the Monferrato, a recognized UNESCO World Heritage site.
An event supported by institutions
Fantasy Festival is produced with the support of the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo, the Municipality of Frassinello Monferrato, local Pro Loco associations, and Destinazione Monferrato, with contributions from the Ministry of Culture, the Piedmont Region, the Province of Alessandria, and the Fondazione CRT. This recognition confirms the value of an event capable of combining artistic research, local development, and quality cultural tourism.

Fantasy Festival 2026: la nona edizione
La nona edizione del Fantasy Festival si è tenuta dal 30 marzo al 12 aprile 2026 a Frassinello Monferrato, in provincia di Alessandria, allargandosi per la prima volta su due weekend e portando alcuni appuntamenti anche al Teatro Civico di Moncalvo. L'edizione ha coinciso con la celebrazione del centesimo allestimento del tendone della compagnia MagdaClan circo.
Il cartellone ha riunito artisti italiani e internazionali con spettacoli come Nessuno di Giorgio Bertolotti, The Big Bang di Circo Bottoni, Elogio alla Noia di MagdaClan circo, EDERE di Alice Binando e Donatella Zaccagnino, Balls Don't Lie di Alessandro Maida e In Difference di Marica Marinoni e Jef Everaert, oltre a numeri di strada e momenti musicali.
Accanto agli spettacoli serali a biglietto si sono alternati appuntamenti diurni gratuiti o a offerta libera, spettacoli mattutini per le scuole, passeggiate ecologiche, sessioni di yoga, dj set, mercatino artigianale e ristoro con i sapori del Monferrato.

Getting there
Frassinello Monferrato can be reached by car via the A26 motorway (Casale Monferrato or Alessandria exits) and the hilly roads of the Monferrato. The nearest train stations are in Casale Monferrato and Vignale Monferrato, with onward travel by car or shuttle. For performances at the Teatro Civico of Moncalvo, the town is accessible via provincial roads.

Evening shows are ticketed, with prices ranging approximately from 5 to 15 euros (with dedicated discounts); many daytime events are free or donation-based. Reservations are recommended or mandatory for shows under the big top.
