About Faleria Medieval Nights

The Faleria Medieval Nights transform this village in the Viterbo Tuscia area into a medieval settlement brought to life by knights, ladies, jesters, and artisans. In the heart of the Municipality of Faleria, between Piazza degli Anguillara and Viale San Giuliano, historical re-enactments, workshops for children, guided tours of the castles, photo exhibitions, and dinners featuring traditional Lazio flavors come together. This free event, promoted by the Municipality with the support of the Lazio Region, blends history, culture, and conviviality in northern Lazio.

A dive into the Middle Ages in the heart of Tuscia

The Faleria Medieval Nights are the autumn appointment that every year takes the ancient Faliscan village, nestled between the Roman countryside and the Viterbo Tuscia, back in time. For three days, the streets and squares of the Municipality of Faleria, in the province of Viterbo, are populated by knights, ladies, jesters, and artisans, recreating the atmosphere of a small medieval village enlivened by shows, markets, and the aromas of traditional cuisine.

The charm of a village with ancient roots

Faleria is one of the most evocative villages in northern Lazio: its origins date back to the Faliscan and Roman eras, while in the Middle Ages the town became an outpost of the powerful Anguillara family, who built the castle that remains the village's symbol today. It is no coincidence that the event revolves around Piazza degli Anguillara, an ideal setting for a festival that celebrates the history and identity of the territory, from the ancient ties with Emperor Otto III to the medieval testimonies scattered in the surroundings.

A program of history, culture, and entertainment

The calendar of the Medieval Nights weaves together cultural moments and popular entertainment. Alongside the medieval encampment with knights, ladies, and artisans at work, there are historical seminars and conferences, photo exhibitions, guided tours of the village and surrounding castles, as well as spaces dedicated to virtual reality that tell the story of the past using contemporary languages.

  • Medieval encampment and village in Piazza degli Anguillara
  • Historical re-enactments with knights, ladies, and jesters
  • Games, tournaments, and creative workshops for children
  • Conferences and exhibitions dedicated to local history
  • Guided tours of the village and the castles of Tuscia

The flavors of tradition

The local gastronomy is a major protagonist: food and wine stands offer traditional Lazio dishes, from pennette to porchetta, accompanied by dinner shows and live music that enliven the evenings until late. An opportunity to discover the typical products of the territory in a convivial and family-friendly atmosphere.

An event for the whole family

Designed to involve visitors of all ages, the Faleria Medieval Nights dedicate ample space to children with games, tournaments, and workshops, while adults can immerse themselves in historical insights, tastings, and concerts. Promoted by the Municipality of Faleria with the contribution of the Lazio Region and the involvement of the Pro Loco and the Senior Social Center, the event has free admission and represents one of the most cherished autumn appointments in the Viterbo Tuscia area.
