The craft and local produce fair of the Pinerolese area, celebrating wild herbs and the scent of acacia
Expongo is the flagship event of Garzigliana, a village of a few hundred inhabitants set along the Chisone stream in the Province of Turin, deep in the Pinerolese area. Created to promote local craftsmanship and produce, the fair is organized by the Pro Loco of Garzigliana with the patronage of the Municipality. Every spring, it takes over Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Piazza Giovanni Paolo II, turning the town center into a vibrant open-air market.
The heart of Expongo is its exhibition section: about sixty stalls featuring artisans, hobbyists, and producers offering handmade goods, creative crafts, and gastronomic specialties. The common thread is a deep connection with nature and the season: the stars of the show are wild herbs and acacia, which is used to make the famous fragrant fritters served throughout the day. Visitors can also enjoy seed and plant swaps, as well as stalls dedicated to the typical products of rural Piedmont.
The festive Sunday begins early in the morning and continues until the afternoon with a packed schedule of activities:
Beyond the market aspect, Expongo is, above all, a meeting point for the residents of Garzigliana and neighboring towns. The botanical walk, shows, and children's workshops make it a family-friendly event, while the vintage car rally attracts enthusiasts from across the Pinerolese. It is a day that captures the identity of a small Piedmontese town and its authentic relationship with the land, traditions, and the rhythms of the countryside.
Expongo is traditionally held on a spring Sunday between April and May. Admission to the fair is free, and the event takes place in the squares and streets of Garzigliana's town center.
Garzigliana is located in the Pinerolese area, in the Province of Turin. It is easily accessible by car from Pinerolo and Turin via local provincial roads; during the fair, the town center is pedestrianized. The most convenient train station is Pinerolo, from where you can continue by car or local transport.
Admission is free. Stalls open in the morning (around 9:00 AM) and the event continues throughout the day. A lunch is organized at the Pro Loco headquarters.
