The Roman event dedicated to extra virgin olive oil
EVOOTRENDS is the event that, every year at the end of November, transforms Rome into the Italian capital of extra virgin olive oil. Born from the collaboration between Fiera Roma and Unaprol (the Italian olive consortium), along with the Fondazione Evooschool and Coldiretti Lazio, the festival caters to both industry professionals and curious consumers. The support of the Lazio Region and the Rome Chamber of Commerce confirms the institutional and territorial significance of the initiative, which is part of the calendar of celebrations for the UNESCO World Olive Day.
The heart of the event is a selection of excellent producers from across the peninsula: from the hills of the Maremma to the Sabina, from the Castelli Romani to the Agro Pontino, and including DOP and IGP oils from the southern regions. Visitors can taste, compare, and purchase directly from the mills, guided by professional tasters who help identify fruitiness, bitterness, and pungency—the three parameters that define a high-quality extra virgin oil.
In recent years, EVOOTRENDS has placed great emphasis on the relationship between extra virgin olive oil and well-being. Doctors, nutritionists, and researchers guide visitors in reading labels and choosing the most suitable oil for different life stages, explaining the role of polyphenols and bioactive molecules. The 2025 edition presented research on the protective effects of extra virgin olive oil on brain health, a theme that guided the entire schedule of conferences.
Olive growing is a historic component of the Lazio agricultural landscape: the Sabina boasts one of the oldest Italian DOPs, the Castelli Romani and the Tuscia preserve centuries-old olive groves, and the Province of Rome hosts mills that combine traditional farming with cold-extraction technologies. EVOOTRENDS highlights this heritage within a national context, addressing the most current industry topics: climate change, soil regeneration, generational turnover in farms, and the tourism potential of olive landscapes.
The festival has been held in various locations over the years. Recent editions took place in the setting of the Mercato di Campagna Amica del Circo Massimo, in the archaeological heart of the city, while the 2026 edition is scheduled at the exhibition spaces of the Fiera di Roma, in the Ponte Galeria area. In both cases, the formula remains the same: a producers' market accompanied by a dense program of cultural and educational events.
EVOOTRENDS is designed for a broad audience: restaurateurs, buyers, and industry technicians find an opportunity for professional development, while families and enthusiasts can approach the world of extra virgin olive oil in a simple and practical way. It is also an ideal occasion for those visiting Rome in late autumn who are looking for an authentic food and wine event, away from the most beaten tourist paths.
The dates for the 2026 edition are confirmed by the official calendar of Italian trade fairs: Friday, November 27, Saturday, November 28, and Sunday, November 29, 2026, at the Fiera di Roma on Via Portuense 1645-1647.
As in previous editions, the event will bring together operators from the entire olive supply chain—millers, producers, technicians, researchers, and distributors—for a discussion on current industry topics, with meetings, debates, and training workshops. Alongside the exhibition area featuring the best Italian extra virgin olive oils, the public will be able to participate in guided tastings and purchase directly from the producers.
At the moment, the organizers have not yet released the detailed program with times, speakers, and conference titles: it will be available on the official website evootrends.it and on the Fiera di Roma channels as the event approaches.
The Fiera di Roma is located at Via Portuense 1645-1647, in the Ponte Galeria area. It is served by the Fiera di Roma train station on the FL1 line (Rome-Fiumicino Airport), with direct connections from both the city center and Fiumicino Airport. By car, take exit 30 (Via Portuense) from the Grande Raccordo Anulare; ample parking is available on-site.
The event takes place over three consecutive days, starting in the morning. Admission to previous editions was free; for the current edition, it is advisable to check accreditation procedures on the official website evootrends.it.
Bring a sturdy bag for direct purchases from the mills and plan to attend at least one talk or guided tasting: they are the true added value of the festival. For those arriving from out of town, the accommodation facilities in the Portuense-Fiumicino area are the most convenient.
