The open-air festival for young live music in Naturno, South Tyrol
The ETSCHSIDE Open Air is one of the longest-running and most cherished musical events in the lower Val Venosta, in the municipality of Naturno/Naturns, in the province of Bolzano (Autonomous Province of Bolzano-South Tyrol, Trentino-South Tyrol region). Conceived and organized by the Jugendzentrum JuZe Naturns, the local youth center, the festival was founded in 2002 and has been held annually at the start of summer ever since.
The event has seen over twenty editions; in 2023, the crew celebrated twenty years of activity. Over time, the event has changed its name several times—from its origins as "Open Air, Schools Opening, Rock'n'Roll Fever" to the current ETSCHSIDE—but it has always maintained the same spirit: providing a stage for the local youth music scene.
The festival is designed for live music lovers without genre barriers. The ETSCHSIDE stage hosts bands ranging from rockabilly to ska, metal to punk, and rock to hardcore, as well as hip-hop and reggae. It is a deliberately eclectic lineup that has hosted local groups from Val Venosta and South Tyrol alongside names from the alternative scene over the years.
The event is held at the Erlebnispark Naturns, the town's adventure park along Bahnhofstraße, which transforms into a true open-air arena for the day. Doors generally open at 6:00 PM, with concerts continuing late into the night.
ETSCHSIDE is much more than a concert: it is a project built by young people for young people. The organizing crew emphasizes that anyone who wants to participate can join, regardless of age or previous experience. Throughout the year, the festival is complemented by other JuZe initiatives, such as the "Fight for Etschside" band contest and themed evenings, which fuel the local music scene.
The ETSCHSIDE Open Air 2026 was held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Erlebnispark Naturns, along Bahnhofstraße in Naturno. Doors opened at 6:00 PM for an evening of live music organized by JuZe Naturns. True to its identity, the festival featured a lineup spanning rock, punk, ska, and related genres from the youth scene of Val Venosta and South Tyrol, confirming its status as one of the most anticipated self-managed open-air events of the South Tyrolean summer.
Naturno/Naturns is located in the lower Val Venosta, along the Val Venosta state road (SS38), about 15 km from Merano and 45 km from Bolzano. By train, the Merano-Malles line stops at the Naturno station, just a short walk from the Erlebnispark on Bahnhofstraße. By car, take the A22 motorway exit at Bolzano Sud and continue towards Merano and Val Venosta.
Doors generally open at 6:00 PM, and concerts continue throughout the evening. For updated prices and details, we recommend contacting JuZe Naturns (tel. +39 0473 673297, [email protected]) or following their official social media channels.
