About Estate Filettinese

Estate Filettinese is the summer festival that brings Filettino, the highest municipality in the Lazio region, to life throughout the season. Promoted by the local administration together with the Pro Loco Filettino APS and local associations, it gathers a diverse program of concerts, musical walks, cultural meetings, workshops, craft markets, excursions in the Simbruini Mountains Regional Nature Park, sporting events, and popular festivities. A widespread program that accompanies residents and vacationers from July to September.

A full summer in the highest village in Lazio

At over a thousand meters above sea level, nestled among the beech forests of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Nature Park, Filettino is the highest municipality in the Lazio region and one of the most picturesque villages in the province of Frosinone. Every year, when the warm season turns the village into a holiday destination, the calendar of events is known as Estate Filettinese: not just a single event, but a widespread festival covering the weeks between July and September.

Who organizes it

The event is born from the collaboration between the Municipality of Filettino and the Pro Loco Filettino APS, with the contribution of local associations, parishes, and tourism operators in the area. The Simbruini Mountains Park includes the festival in its annual initiatives, confirming the close bond between the village festival and the naturalistic vocation of this corner of Lazio near the Abruzzo border.

What is on the program

The program is deliberately diverse, designed for all ages and different audiences. Recent editions have featured:

  • Live music: concerts in the square, musical walks organized with musical associations from the Frosinone area, band performances, and dance evenings;
  • Cultural meetings: book presentations, conferences, and debates hosted in the "Salotto Filettinese" format, with guest speakers;
  • Tradition and community: religious and civil appointments, official municipal celebrations, and convivial moments with typical products from the Ciociaria mountains;
  • Markets and crafts: stalls with local products, hobbies, and small crafts along the streets of the center;
  • Nature and excursions: guided walks, outings on the trails of the Simbruini Mountains Park, and outdoor activities;
  • Sports and games: tournaments, running races, and popular games like human foosball, very popular with the younger crowd;
  • Workshops: creative and educational activities aimed primarily at children and families on vacation.

The atmosphere

Those arriving in Filettino in summer find a village that fills up without losing its intimate scale. The events take place almost entirely outdoors, among the small squares of the historic center, the viewpoints overlooking the Aniene valley, and the green spaces on the edge of the town. The evenings are cool even in August, making the festival a valid alternative to the seaside resorts of lower Lazio: you can attend a concert, have dinner with polenta or a dish of mountain beans, and the next morning set off for an excursion towards Campo Staffi or the springs of the Aniene river.

Why it is worth it

Estate Filettinese is a great example of how small towns in the Lazio Apennines can build a continuous cultural proposal with limited resources. There are no big national headliners, but a dense schedule, almost entirely free, capable of truly involving the community: it is the local associations that build it, one event after another. For the visitor, it is also the best opportunity to get to know Filettino beyond the ski season, when the village shows its most lively and hospitable face.

How to stay informed

The detailed program is usually released close to the start of the season through the social media channels of the Municipality of Filettino and the Pro Loco Filettino APS, local press, and posters displayed in the village. Since some dates may change due to weather, it is advisable to check the times in the days immediately preceding the event.

Estate Filettinese — edition 2026

Estate Filettinese 2026

As every year, the Municipality of Filettino and the Pro Loco Filettino APS are preparing the summer program for the highest village in Lazio, in the heart of the Simbruini Mountains Regional Nature Park. At the moment, no detailed official program for the 2026 edition has been published, nor a calendar with definitive dates.

Based on previous editions, it is reasonable to expect a widespread festival between July and September, with concerts and musical walks, cultural meetings, craft markets, guided excursions, sporting events, and popular festivities in the historic center.
