The festival that closes Boissano's summer with polenta in a thousand variations
The End of Season Polenta Festival is one of the most cherished events in Boissano, a hillside village in the Riviera di Ponente in the province of Savona. As the name suggests, it is the festival that closes the summer season: it takes place in the last days of August, when the town gathers to bid farewell to summer around a simple and convivial dish like polenta.
The heart of the festival is the cuisine of the Pro Loco Boissano, which offers polenta in numerous versions: with wild boar sauce, with cheeses, with truffles, accompanied by grilled main courses, genuine side dishes, and homemade desserts. Special attention is given to those with different needs, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. The food stands open every evening from 7 PM.
In addition to the food, the Polentata is a true village festival: every evening a DJ set accompanies dinner and the evening, and the Sagra Area in Via Marici offers covered seating, ensuring the festival goes on even in case of bad weather. It's a perfect opportunity to experience the authentic atmosphere of the Ligurian hinterland, far from the crowds of the seaside resorts.
Located on the hills between Toirano and Loano, Boissano retains the character of the Ligurian hinterland villages, with its olive groves, paths, and agricultural traditions. The Polentata is part of this community spirit, capable of attracting visitors from neighboring towns and the coast.
For 2026, the End of Season Polenta Festival in Boissano confirms the three evenings at the end of August in the Sagra Area of Via Marici. The menu revolves around polenta in all its variations — with wild boar sauce, cheeses, truffles — alongside grilled meats, side dishes, and desserts from the Pro Loco. Every evening, a DJ set livens up the festival. The area has covered seating, ensuring the festival takes place even in case of rain.
