A tango festival in the Monti Dauni

Encuentro – Tango and Latin Lands Festival is the summer event that transforms Biccari, a charming village in the Monti Dauni area of Foggia, into the Apulian capital of Argentine tango and Latin American culture. Conceived and promoted by the Associazione Argentina per il Mondo APS, led by Mariano Andres Russo, with artistic direction by Raffaele Ferrante, the festival is the natural evolution of the 'Biccari like Buenos Aires – Tango Festival', which brought the milonga to the town's streets for three editions (2022-2024). Since 2025, the event has embraced a broader identity, opening up to the entire universe of 'Latin lands'.

Tango, milonga, and Latin American culture

The heart of Encuentro is Argentine tango, celebrated through gala milongas, master performances, live orchestras, and open classes for dancers of all levels. Surrounding the tango is a multidisciplinary program that weaves together Latin music, Afro-Brazilian percussion, street artists, live painting, and South American culinary culture, from asado to authentic Argentine specialties. Piazza Matteotti in Biccari becomes a vast open-air dance floor, where hundreds of enthusiasts from all over Italy gather to dance until late into the night.

An itinerant festival between Daunia and Murgia

Encuentro extends beyond Biccari: in its most recent format, the festival has become itinerant, visiting various municipalities across the Daunia and Murgia regions. During the opening evenings, shows like 'Matear o Morir' and live tango performances animate the local squares, while the most intense part of the program remains in Biccari, featuring mountain trekking, workshops, food and wine trails, and the highly anticipated gala milongas in the main square.

A growing event

Supported by the Municipality of Biccari, the Community Cooperative, and the Adventure Park, with the patronage of the Embassy of the Argentine Republic and the Apulia Region, Encuentro has established itself as one of the most original events of the Apulian summer, successfully blending the promotion of the Daunian Apennine villages with an international passion for tango. It is a cultural project that brings the soul of Buenos Aires to the woods and stone streets of the Foggia province.
