The grand extraordinary market in the heart of Empoli's historic center
The Empolissima Spring Market is one of the most anticipated events on the Empoli calendar: for an entire Sunday in May, the historic center of Empoli, located in the heart of the Florence province and Tuscany, turns into a grand extraordinary open-air market. It is more than just a market; it is a true city festival that combines the tradition of street commerce with the vitality of the center, featuring open shops, cafes, and restaurants ready to welcome visitors.
The spring edition features approximately eighty-five curated stalls distributed along the streets and squares of the center: from the start of Via Roma at the intersection with Via Giovanni da Empoli, the route continues toward Piazza della Vittoria, Via Pievano Rolando, Via Salvagnoli, and Via Tinto da Battifolle. The stalls offer a wide and refined assortment: clothing, footwear, linens, fashion accessories, home decor, gift items, and high-quality food and wine, showcasing the latest trends for the spring and summer seasons.
The main attraction is the shopping experience, with the market open all day alongside the extraordinary opening of city center shops. But Empolissima is also an opportunity to experience the city: local cafes and restaurants remain open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, turning the Sunday into a pleasant stroll through shopping, Tuscan flavors, and social life. For those arriving from out of town, parking is available in the immediate vicinity of the center.
The Empolissima Spring Market is organized by Confesercenti Empolese Valdelsa and ANVA Confesercenti (the National Association of Street Vendors), with the patronage of the Municipality of Empoli and in collaboration with the Centro Storico Empoli association. The event is part of a calendar of extraordinary markets that accompanies the city throughout the year, with specific appointments dedicated to spring and autumn.
Empoli is the main hub of the Valdarno Empolese, located halfway between Florence and Pisa along the Arno river. Known for its glassmaking tradition and its lively historic center gathered around Piazza Farinata degli Uberti, the city offers visitors of the Empolissima an elegant and welcoming urban setting, ideal for combining a day at the market with the discovery of Tuscan heritage.
