The theatre review for young students from the schools of Sogliano al Rubicone
The Elisabetta Turroni Theatre Review is one of the most anticipated events of spring in Sogliano al Rubicone, a village in the hinterland of the province of Forlì-Cesena, in the heart of the Rubicone Valley in Emilia-Romagna. Every year, in May, the Teatro Comunale Elisabetta Turroni opens its doors to children and young people from the territory's primary and nursery schools, who take to the stage to present the shows prepared during the school year to the public.
The event, as well as the theatre that hosts it, is named in memory of Elisabetta Turroni, originally from Sogliano: the Municipality dedicated the theatre structure to her memory, and since then, the review has borne her name. The initiative is funded by the Municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone and organized in collaboration with the Comprehensive Institute of Sogliano, in a project involving students from several school campuses in the area, including the schools of Sogliano, Borghi, and Roncofreddo.
For a few days, the young students become real actors: fairy tales, stories, narratives, and theatrical adaptations are born from the work done in class with the teachers. In recent years, original titles such as Odissea Romagnola, Il pescatore di parole, Una tazza di tè per te e per tutti, and Il viaggio di Simone have been staged, testifying to a journey that intertwines education, imagination, and the roots of the Romagna territory.
Theatre thus becomes a magical game in which actors and spectators share emotions and the desire to dream, and it transforms into an important educational and community tool for the new generations.
The performances usually take place in two sessions: morning shows, dedicated to school groups, and evening repeats open to families and the entire citizenry. Admission is free, and every evening the theatre opens its doors to the public, in a festive atmosphere that unites parents, grandparents, teachers, and residents of the valley's various Municipalities around the work of the little ones.
From May 11 to 15, 2026, the Teatro Comunale Elisabetta Turroni in Sogliano al Rubicone hosted the twentieth edition of the review, an important milestone for an event that has been staging children and young people from local schools for twenty years.
The review, funded by the Municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone and organized in collaboration with the Comprehensive Institute of Sogliano, involved numerous young actors from primary and nursery schools, including the campuses of Sogliano, Borghi, and Roncofreddo. Among the titles staged in the initial days were the shows from the G. Pascoli Primary School (Once Upon a Time… A Hundred Fairy Tales and Coraline: The Effort and Courage to Grow Up) and the L. Mariani Primary School in Roncofreddo (The Gruffalo: Little Mouse, Great Cunning! and The Indian File).
Each day alternated morning performances, reserved for school groups, with evening repeats open to the public. Admission was free for all evenings.
The shows are held at the Teatro Comunale Elisabetta Turroni, in Piazza Giuseppe Mazzini 16, in Sogliano al Rubicone (FC), in the Romagna hinterland of the province of Forlì-Cesena.
By car: from Cesena or from the Riviera (Rimini, Cesenatico), you can reach Sogliano al Rubicone by going up the Rubicone Valley along the provincial roads; the village is about 30 km from Cesena. The nearest train station is Cesena, from where you can continue by car or by bus connections to the hinterland.
Admission to the shows is free. For updated times and program, it is advisable to consult the website of the Municipality of Sogliano al Rubicone and the Teatro Comunale Elisabetta Turroni.
