The Abruzzo fried pizza festival in the village of Elice
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Scrippella Festival is the most anticipated summer event in Elice, a small hillside municipality in the province of Pescara, Abruzzo. For over thirty years, the event has transformed the village into a grand stage for taste and tradition, attracting visitors from across the region and neighboring towns. Now in its thirtieth edition, the festival is organized by Pro Loco Elice in collaboration with ASD Elicese Calcio and with the support of the Municipality of Elice.
The heart of the event is the scrippella, the characteristic Abruzzo fried pizza made with a simple dough of flour, water, and yeast. Fragrant and golden, it is offered in many variations, plain or stuffed, and is considered one of the most renowned in Abruzzo. At the food stalls, the scrippella pairs perfectly with the great classics of local cuisine: arrosticini, grilled sausages, prosciutto, porchetta, as well as traditional dishes like mugnaia pasta and ravioli with sauce.
In addition to the gastronomy, the festival offers live music, shows, and entertainment every evening throughout the streets and squares of Elice's historic center. Concerts by folk bands, dance evenings, and moments dedicated to Abruzzo traditions accompany visitors late into the night, while the village dresses up for the occasion with lights and stalls. It is an ideal opportunity to discover an authentic corner of the Pescara hinterland, among alleys, hillside views, and genuine hospitality.
Elice sits on a hill a short distance from the Adriatic coast and the seaside resorts of the province of Pescara. The festival is the best time to visit the town, savor its typical products, and experience the warm atmosphere of Abruzzo folk festivals. Entrance to the event area is free, with tastings available at popular prices at the various stalls.
Details for the 2026 edition of the Elice Scrippella Festival have not yet been released. Based on previous editions, the festival takes place in July in the village's historic center, featuring tastings of the traditional scrippella, typical Abruzzo dishes, and live music evenings organized by Pro Loco Elice. Dates and the detailed program will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
