Christmas among the porticoes of Segonzano, in the Cembra Valley
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Nadal en tra i porteghi — which translates from the local Trentino dialect as «Christmas among the porticoes» — is the event that transforms the historic center of Segonzano, a small town in the Cembra Valley within the Autonomous Province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), into a widespread Christmas village every December. For an entire weekend, the porticoes, streets, and squares of the village are filled with lights, music, scents, and voices, capturing the most authentic atmosphere of a mountain Christmas.
The festival is organized by the Segonzano Youth Group in partnership with the municipal administration and thrives on the dedication of volunteers and local associations. It is not a large-scale tourist market, but a village festival designed primarily for the Cembran community and those who love the genuine, intimate charm of Trentino's historic hamlets.
The program combines various elements of the Trentino Christmas spirit:
One of the hallmarks of Nadal en tra i porteghi is the music that accompanies the entire weekend. The opening Saturday evening features a DJ set, while Sunday kicks off with a musical aperitif and continues with a roaming concert through the village streets: local bands, accordion players, and traditional Cembran choirs bring the porticoes to life in a musical journey that blends folk repertoire with a festive spirit.
Visiting Segonzano during Nadal en tra i porteghi means discovering an off-the-beaten-path corner of Trentino: the Cembra Valley, famous for its terraced vineyards, porphyry stone, and the renowned Earth Pyramids. The Christmas festival is the perfect opportunity to combine a walk through illuminated porticoes with mountain cuisine and the warm hospitality of a small valley community, far from the crowds of larger markets.
The 2026 edition of Nadal en tra i porteghi is expected to take place over a weekend in December in the historic center of Segonzano, in the Cembra Valley (Autonomous Province of Trento). At the moment, the organizers have not yet published the official dates and program: the final schedule will be communicated by the Segonzano Youth Group and the Municipality in the weeks leading up to the holidays. Based on previous editions, a craft market, food stalls with traditional Trentino dishes, roaming concerts, and activities for children are expected.
Segonzano is located in the Cembra Valley, in the Autonomous Province of Trento. By car, take the A22 Brenner motorway (exit at Trento Nord or San Michele all'Adige) and continue along the SS612 road of the Cembra Valley. The nearest train station is Trento, which is connected to the town by road.
The event takes place over a weekend in December, close to the Christmas holidays.
Admission to the event and the market is free; food stalls and specific activities may have a charge.
Warm clothing is recommended: the event takes place outdoors, among the porticoes and streets of the town center, in a typical winter mountain climate.
