The independent craft market held in the stables of Maso Gian, in the Mòcheni Valley

The Market in Stalla is a small craft market that transforms an ancient stable and the courtyard of Maso Gian di Danimpasta, in the Stefani area of Sant'Orsola Terme, into a meeting place for artisans and visitors every December. We are in the Mòcheni Valley (Bersntol), in the province of Trento, one of the most fascinating Germanic linguistic islands in Trentino-Alto Adige, which the writer Robert Musil dubbed the "enchanted valley."
It is called "Market in Stalla" (Market in the Stable) precisely because it takes place in the spaces that were once the farmhouse stable and the adjacent courtyard. It is an independent market: it does not belong to the large circuits that have made many Trentino towns famous for tourism, and it proudly stands by this choice. Here, you won't find mass-produced stalls, but rather the creations of those who truly produce their goods, often just a few steps from where they sell them.
The common thread is authentic craftsmanship and the products of the valley. Among the stalls, you will find ceramics and illustrations, knitwear and wool yarns, custom-made textiles and sewing, jewelry, paper flowers, crochet creations, and embroidered home goods. There is no shortage of gastronomy: honey from local beekeepers, cheeses and milk-based cosmetics, herbs and medicinal plants, and organic agricultural products. Overseeing it all is Daniela Dalbosco with her Danimpasta workshop, which fills the farmhouse with the scents of traditional, freshly baked sweets.
The atmosphere is that of the intimate, cozy Christmases of the past: warm sweaters, genuine flavors, and ancient crafts with stories to tell. It is a perfect opportunity to find original gift ideas and unique handmade pieces, far from the frenzy of large-scale markets.
The municipality of Sant'Orsola Terme is the most populous in the Mòcheni Valley, known for its thermal waters and the cultivation of small berries, which are exported throughout Italy. The Stefani area is located along the valley crossed by the Fersina stream, nestled between meadows and mountain farmhouses. The Market in Stalla is an authentic way to discover this secluded corner of Trentino, where Mòcheni tradition and contemporary craftsmanship meet.
The 2026 edition of the Market in Stalla does not yet have an official date. Based on previous editions, the event typically takes place on the weekend before Christmas, on Saturday and Sunday, at Maso Gian di Danimpasta in the Stefani area of Sant'Orsola Terme, in the Mòcheni Valley. The detailed program and the list of participating artisans will be announced by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.
