About Educa Immagine

Educa Immagine Festival is the media education event that brings Rovereto, in the Trentino-Alto Adige region, to life every spring. Over three days, the festival offers screenings, expert talks, workshops, and performances designed to decode the language of images, cinema, and the digital world. Promoted by the Trentino Film Commission, the festival is free to attend and brings together university professors, psychologists, filmmakers, journalists, artists, and content creators across venues like the Teatro Zandonai and the Mart museum.

Educa Immagine Festival: Decoding images in Rovereto

Educa Immagine Festival is the media education festival held in Rovereto, in the heart of the Trentino-Alto Adige region. Created to guide both adults and children in interpreting visual language, the festival weaves together cinema, photography, digital culture, and critical thinking through three days of free, open-access events.

A festival promoted by the Trentino Film Commission

The event is promoted by the Trentino Film Commission as part of the "Cinema for Schools" plan supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education and Merit. It is organized in collaboration with the Autonomous Province of Trento, the Mart (Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art), the Municipality of Rovereto, the University of Trento, and Iprase. The heart of the program is spread across the Teatro Riccardo Zandonai, the Mart, the Auditorium Melotti, and other locations in the historic center.

Screenings, talks, and workshops

The festival features film and documentary screenings, workshops on cinematic language, and panel discussions with experts. Recurring themes include the conscious use of social media, privacy in the digital age, artificial intelligence, the relationship between teenagers and the web, auteur photography, and contemporary art. Each edition revolves around a keyword that guides the reflection.

Guests from diverse backgrounds

The Educa Immagine stage hosts university professors and media education researchers, psychologists specializing in online behavior, cinema and communication professionals, as well as journalists, artists, and content creators. The festival pays special attention to schools, with some sessions qualifying as professional training for teachers.

Rovereto, city of images

By hosting Educa Immagine, Rovereto confirms its cultural vocation: for three days, the city of the Mart becomes a widespread laboratory exploring the power and risks of images. It is an event designed for students, families, teachers, and the curious, set during one of the most beautiful seasons to visit the Vallagarina valley and Trentino.

Educa Immagine — edition 2026

The seventh edition of Educa Immagine Festival took place in Rovereto from April 10 to 12, 2026, with the theme "Mirages," dedicated to seductive images and the fragile truths of the digital world. Three days of free screenings, talks, and performances at the Teatro Zandonai, the Mart, and other city venues.

Educa Immagine 2026: "Mirages"

The seventh edition of Educa Immagine Festival was held in Rovereto from April 10 to 12, 2026, under the title "Mirages": in an age of seductive images and fragile truths, recognizing mirages is the first step toward finding one's bearings. The program explored privacy, artificial intelligence, and childhood in the digital era.

Highlights included the "Three Gazes" series with documentaries dedicated to photographers Martin Parr, Mimmo and Francesco Jodice, and Muybridge; the talk "Privacy: Do you accept the terms?"; and the discussion "Art in the Digital Age" in collaboration with the Mart. The grand finale featured the theatrical performance "Gioconde," written and performed by Michela Giraud with Maria Onori.

All events were free and open to the public, with registration recommended on the official website.
