The widespread sustainability festival arrives at the Teatro Odeon
Ecodays are much more than just a series of events: they are a major widespread festival dedicated to sustainability and the circular economy. For over ten days, the festival brings to life three municipalities in the Valdera area—Pontedera, Ponsacco, and Cascina—with dozens of free events. The initiative is promoted by Ecofor Service Spa, a Pontedera-based company active in waste treatment and recovery, which has supported the event for years with the stated goal of "contributing to the construction of a more conscious community."
In the Ecodays calendar, the municipality of Ponsacco, in the Province of Pisa, plays a leading role thanks to its Teatro Odeon, a historic multi-purpose venue on Via dei Mille. This is where two of the most anticipated moments of the festival take place: an original theatrical performance and one of the 'Ecoincontri'—the dialogue sessions that form the heart of the festival, bringing nationally renowned scientists, communicators, and intellectuals to the stage.
The Ecodays formula blends diverse formats: conferences and conventions, guided tours of facilities, photography exhibitions, workshops for schools, the 'Ecofor Libri' literary contest, theatrical performances, and sporting events like the 'Randonnée della Valdera'. The common thread remains the same: to make sustainability a collective and participatory experience, capable of speaking to both adults and the younger generation. In Ponsacco, this vision takes shape on the stage of the Odeon, where theater and scientific outreach become tools to reflect on our relationship with the environment.
The events in Ponsacco are part of a much broader program distributed across theaters, squares, libraries, and facilities throughout the Valdera area. For the community of Ponsacco, Ecodays represents a precious opportunity to welcome prominent figures of Italian culture without having to leave their own town, set against the backdrop of Tuscany—a region that has always linked tradition, landscape, and attention to the territory. Free admission to all events makes the festival fully accessible to families, students, and curious visitors alike.
The 2026 edition of Ecodays, dedicated to the theme "sustainability is participation," was held from May 6th to 17th, 2026, across Pontedera, Ponsacco, and Cascina, with a rich calendar of free events. The festival, promoted by Ecofor Service, brought nationally renowned guests to the Valdera area, such as journalist Ezio Mauro, climatologist Luca Mercalli, National Geographic Italia director Marco Cattaneo, and science philosopher Telmo Pievani. In Ponsacco, the Teatro Odeon hosted two highly attended events.
The two Ponsacco events are part of the widespread Ecodays 2026 program, which also included—at other Valdera locations—the opening night with Ezio Mauro at the Teatro Era, the international conference "Circular Economy in Europe," the Climate Visuals photography exhibition, the Ecofor Libri literary prize, the Bikedays, Carboot markets, and the Randonnée della Valdera.
The events in Ponsacco take place at the Teatro Odeon, located at Via dei Mille 1, 56038 Ponsacco (PI). The festival also takes place in Pontedera and Cascina.
By car: Ponsacco is easily accessible via the SGC FI-PI-LI (Pontedera exit) and the SR439 road. By train: the nearest station is Pontedera-Casciana Terme, just a few minutes from Ponsacco, on the Florence–Pisa line.
All Ecodays events are free of charge and open to the public. For the most popular events, booking is recommended due to high attendance.
