Echos in Fubine Monferrato: The Festival Grand Finale

The Municipality of Fubine Monferrato, a hillside village in the province of Alessandria that serves as a gateway to the Casalese region, hosts the grand finale of Echos. Places and Music, an international traveling music festival that traverses the villages, castles, abbeys, and wine cellars of southeastern Piedmont every spring. The event is organized by the Ondasonora Musical Association APS under the artistic direction of pianist Sergio Marchegiani, and for nearly thirty years, it has combined quality concerts with the promotion of the Monferrato region's artistic and landscape heritage.

The "1+1+1=Trio!" Format

The Fubine leg is built around the original Echos format, created in 2022 and titled "1+1+1=Trio!". The concept is simple yet evocative: each of the three musicians in a trio performs a half-hour solo mini-concert in a different location in the village, and only at the end do the three performers reunite on the same stage to play together. In Fubine Monferrato, the chosen venues are three of the village's most beautiful spots: the historic Bricherasio Park, Casa Pane, and the Parish Church. Each venue is not merely a backdrop but an integral part of the listening experience, in a journey that leads the audience from one concert to the next along the village streets.

An International Traveling Festival

Echos is not tied to a single venue: its traveling nature takes it to numerous municipalities in the province of Alessandria and the Monferrato area, from Casale Monferrato to Acqui Terme, and from Novi Ligure to Valenza, with dozens of concerts spread throughout the spring. In nearly thirty years of activity, the festival has hosted performers from many countries, alongside young talents supported through dedicated scholarships, with signature cycles such as PianoEchos and Places of Wine. Choosing Fubine as the finale venue confirms the festival's commitment to bringing great music to the small towns of the Piedmontese hills.

Fubine Monferrato and its Infernot

Fubine Monferrato is known for its rolling landscape and its infernot, the characteristic underground cellars carved into the local "pietra da cantoni" stone, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site as part of the vineyard landscapes of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato. For the final concert, the Municipality of Fubine Monferrato offers a free guided tour of some of these infernot, an opportunity to discover the village's most authentic identity before immersing yourself in the music. The Echos stop thus becomes an invitation to experience Monferrato in its dual soul, composed of musical culture and winemaking tradition.
