International harness racing and a family-friendly festival at the Vinovo Racecourse
The Vinovo Racecourse, located in the town of the same name in the Province of Turin, has been the home of Piedmontese harness racing for decades. On Easter Monday, the track comes alive for the Gran Premio Costa Azzurra, one of the most prestigious races on the national calendar. Established in 1963, it is now part of the UET Elite Circuit, the European circuit that brings together the great classics of continental harness racing.
The Costa Azzurra is a Group 1 race over 1600 meters, with a 220,000-euro prize pool. Its recent history has cemented its status as one of the most important stages in European harness racing, so much so that the Piedmont Region has included it among its "Major Events" of the year, alongside prestigious gatherings like the ATP Finals in tennis and the Italian Open in golf. The Vinovo track attracts the best horses and drivers from the international scene.
Easter Monday in Vinovo is much more than a sporting event. Alongside the races, the racecourse transforms into a large open-air park designed for families. Children can enjoy their first pony ride, participate in creative workshops, and join the Easter Bunny hunt, while all visitors can take a ride in vintage carriages around the track.
One of the most unique and beloved attractions is the Rabbit Fair, which brings together around 150 rabbit breeds in collaboration with amateur breeder associations. It is a unique opportunity to discover the variety of these animals up close, a feature particularly appreciated by children.
The facility offers dining services at the Scuderie, with a direct view of the track, as well as picnic areas and tasting points for local products. Entry to the racecourse is free and on-site parking is complimentary, making the day accessible to everyone, from horse racing enthusiasts to families looking for a day trip near Turin.
The Easter Monday edition, on April 6, 2026, confirmed the Vinovo Racecourse as the European capital of harness racing. The program brought together 9 races for a total prize pool exceeding 700,000 euros, with the 63rd edition of the Gran Premio Costa Azzurra and the Derby dei 4 anni as the highlights. Alongside the sport, it was a day of celebration for all ages with the Rabbit Fair, ponies, vintage carriages, and children's workshops.
A total of 9 races were scheduled for a total prize pool exceeding 700,000 euros. The day was broadcast live on EQUtv (channel 151 on Digital Terrestrial, 51 on tivùsat, and 220 on Sky).
The Vinovo Racecourse is located at Via Stupinigi 167, in Vinovo (TO), a few kilometers south of Turin. By car, it is easily reached from the Turin ring road in the direction of Stupinigi/Vinovo; ample free on-site parking is available.
Admission to the racecourse is free. The first race is scheduled for 2:30 PM, while family activities run throughout the day. The restaurant service opens at noon (reservations recommended).
Arrive early to enjoy the entertainment, the Rabbit Fair, and the carriage rides before the main races begin.
