The music festival for young talent by the Salesians of Vasto
If there is one event in Vasto that perfectly blends music, community, and the joy of togetherness, it is Due Note a Vasto. Born from the enthusiasm of the Salesiani Don Bosco Vasto, this festival has grown edition after edition to become one of the most anticipated spring events in the city, located in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. The heart of the event is a music contest for emerging artists: young singer-songwriters, bands, duos, and soloists compete on stage with original tracks and covers before a jury of professionals and a large, enthusiastic audience.
Due Note a Vasto is much more than a competition. Surrounding the stage, the Villaggio Due Note comes to life—a space designed for families and children, featuring rides, inflatables, games, workshops, face painting, food stalls, and many local associations. The festival occupies the sports field and the square in front of the Church of San Giovanni Bosco, which for an entire day, from early afternoon until late at night, fills with music, colors, and smiles.
The competition awards several prizes named after people dear to the Salesian and Vasto community: the Guido Cerulli Prize for the overall winner, the Critics' Prize in memory of Marco Rapino, the award for best performance dedicated to Giovanni Stivaletta, and the award for best song in memory of Angelo Canelli. It is a way to link the music festival to the city's memory and roots.
With free admission, Due Note a Vasto is an inclusive event open to everyone, attracting families, young people, and music lovers from Vasto and the surrounding area. The event is hosted by local personalities, and the program alternates between performances by the contest finalists and concerts by national guests, often featuring artists from television programs and the Italian music scene. A festival that continues to grow while staying true to its original spirit: giving space to young people and their voices.
The 2026 edition of Due Note a Vasto, themed "There's room for everyone!", was held on Saturday, May 23, at the sports field and the square of the Church of San Giovanni Bosco. The emerging artists' contest kicked off at 4:30 PM, while the Villaggio Due Note enlivened the afternoon with rides, inflatables, games, and food stalls. The event was hosted by Vasto locals Filippo Giancola and Alessandra Di Santo. A large turnout confirmed the event's role as a benchmark for youth music in Vasto.
The event featured a dual-stage setup (Stage A and Stage B) to alternate guest performances with entertainment. Hosted by Filippo Giancola and Alessandra Di Santo.
