About Due Laghi Jazz

Every summer, Avigliana—a medieval town with a green heart overlooking its two lakes at the gateway to the Susa Valley—transforms into an open-air stage for world-class jazz. Directed for over thirty years by Fulvio Albano, the Due Laghi Jazz Festival brings top Italian and international jazz artists to Piazza Conte Rosso and surrounding towns, offering free evening concerts set against the charm of ancient stone.

Thirty years of jazz between the two lakes

The Due Laghi Jazz Festival is one of the longest-running and most beloved jazz events in Piedmont. Founded in the early 1990s in Avigliana, in the Province of Turin, it takes its name from the two bodies of water—the Lago Grande and Lago Piccolo—that frame this medieval village at the entrance to the Susa Valley. Under the long-standing artistic direction of saxophonist Fulvio Albano, the festival has built a solid reputation over three decades, hosting prominent Italian and international musicians.

The heart: Piazza Conte Rosso

The main stage is the evocative Piazza Conte Rosso, Avigliana's medieval living room, with its porticoes, frescoed houses, and intimate atmosphere that makes every concert a personal experience. Evenings usually begin at 9:00 PM and, with rare exceptions, are free of charge: a choice that has made the festival a popular event, attracting enthusiasts from across the entire Turin metropolitan area.

A festival spread across the Susa Valley

The Due Laghi is not just about Avigliana. The festival has an itinerant spirit, reaching neighboring towns in the lower Susa Valley—including Condove, Sant'Ambrogio di Torino, and Almese—bringing jazz to town squares, church courtyards, and prestigious sites like the Roman Villa of Almese. This territorial reach makes the festival a true cultural ambassador for the valley.

Between Italy and the world

The program alternates between the best of Italian jazz and international guests, with a special focus on quality vocals and mainstream jazz. Over the years, renowned vocalists and instrumentalists have graced the stage, in constant dialogue with the Piedmontese scene cultivated by the artistic direction. The event is organized by the Arsis Musical Association, with the support of the Municipality of Avigliana.

Avigliana, a town to discover

Attending a Due Laghi concert is also the perfect opportunity to visit Avigliana: the medieval village, the castle ruins, and the Avigliana Lakes Natural Park with its 400 hectares of nature. A jazz evening amidst the ancient alleys and the water of the lakes is one of the most characteristic summer experiences in the Turin area.
