About DoloMyths Run

The DoloMyths Run is one of Italy's most iconic mountain races, held in Canazei, in the Val di Fassa (Trentino-Alto Adige). It is a full weekend of high-altitude trail running in the UNESCO-listed Dolomites, featuring three races: the 12K Trail and 42K Fassa Trail on Saturday, and the spectacular DoloMyths Run Skyrace on Sunday, which climbs to the 3,152-meter summit of Piz Boè. A legendary event that attracts over a thousand athletes from around the world every year.

The DoloMyths Run: A Dolomite trail running legend

The DoloMyths Run is among the most prestigious and long-standing mountain running events in Italy. Every July, it transforms Canazei, in the heart of the Val di Fassa in the province of Trento (Trentino-Alto Adige), into the capital of high-altitude trail running. The meeting point and start for all races are located in Piazza G. Marconi, in the town center, at the foot of the spires of the Sella and Sassolungo groups.

One weekend, three races

The event spans two days and offers three distances designed for athletes of different levels:

  • 12K Trail (Saturday): Twelve kilometers with approximately 800 meters of elevation gain; the most accessible race, ideal for those getting started with trail running on the valley paths.
  • 42K Fassa Trail (Saturday): A true Dolomite ultra-trail of about 42 kilometers with over 2,200 meters of elevation gain, with a ten-hour time limit.
  • DoloMyths Run Skyrace (Sunday): The flagship race, reserved for a limited number of competitors, covering a 22-kilometer course with 1,750 meters of elevation gain.

The Skyrace: A challenge towards Piz Boè

The beating heart of the event is the Skyrace, one of the most famous skyrunning courses in the world. From the square in Canazei, competitors face a long climb to the Forcella Pordoi and the summit of Piz Boè, at 3,152 meters, before the dizzying descent along the Val Lastiès. It is a technical and demanding course in a high-mountain environment that combines extreme physical effort with breathtaking views among the UNESCO World Heritage Dolomites.

An international stage

The DoloMyths Run attracts the best trail and skyrunning athletes in the world and represents a major highlight on the international calendar. Each edition sees over a thousand athletes from dozens of different nations at the starting line, a testament to the prestige achieved by the race organized by the DoloMyths Run Organizing Committee of Canazei.

Sport and territory

Beyond the competitive aspect, the event is an extraordinary showcase for the Municipality of Canazei and the entire Val di Fassa, promoting the local Ladin culture, mountain hospitality, and one of the most spectacular natural landscapes in the Alps. For fans and spectators alike, the DoloMyths Run weekend is also an opportunity to experience the festive atmosphere of the town and admire the athletes' efforts on the Dolomite trails up close.
