Tuscan wines and Garfagnana cuisine in the village of Sillico
In the heart of Garfagnana, perched on a scenic hill in the Municipality of Pieve Fosciana (Province of Lucca), the small medieval village of Sillico opens its doors to one of the valley's most beloved food and wine events: DiVini e Sapori. For two evenings, usually on the first weekend of July, the village's ancient stones, small squares, and historic buildings become the backdrop for a culinary journey designed for those who love to eat well, drink better, and breathe in the authentic atmosphere of a mountain village.
The event's format is now a well-known ritual for its many regulars. It begins with an aperitif in the halls of Palazzo Carli, a historic residence that serves as an elegant starting point for the evening, before continuing with a wandering dinner that winds through the village's various squares. Each stop offers a different taste, in a crescendo of courses ranging from appetizers to desserts, always accompanied by carefully selected glasses of wine.
The common thread is the pairing of excellent Tuscan wines with traditional Garfagnana cuisine: past editions have featured local specialties such as marinated trout, barley or spelt with porcini mushrooms, chestnut flour fritters, local cheeses like Bagiolo, meat main courses with polenta, and typical village desserts. The glasses have been filled with important labels from Tuscan wineries, from Vernaccia di San Gimignano to the reds of Bolgheri and Montepulciano.
The evenings are always accompanied by live music, which enlivens the squares and extends the festivities late into the night. DiVini e Sapori is first and foremost a community event: it is organized by the Polis Sillico association together with local entities, and the proceeds from the evenings are donated to the maintenance of the Sentieri del Moro, the network of hiking trails that surrounds the village and enhances its landscape.
Participating in DiVini e Sapori means discovering a lesser-known but highly charming corner of mountainous Tuscany, far from the most beaten tourist paths, where the care for food and wine is linked to the pride of a small community that opens its homes and squares to visitors.
The 2026 edition of DiVini e Sapori is scheduled for Friday, July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th, 2026 in the village of Sillico, with evenings starting at 8:30 PM. This year, the event confirms its established formula: aperitif at Palazzo Carli, wandering dinner in the village squares, and live music, with the now-classic pairing of excellent Tuscan wines and traditional Garfagnana dishes. As every year, proceeds are destined for the maintenance of the Sentieri del Moro.
The DiVini e Sapori 2026 evenings take place in the village of Sillico starting at 8:30 PM, following the event's traditional formula:
