Experimental music, contemporary art, and landscapes at the Eremo di Santo Spirito a Maiella
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Diorama Festival was founded in 2021 in Roccamorice, a small village perched on the rock in the province of Pescara, in the heart of the Majella National Park. The creator and artistic director, Paolo Cicalini, envisioned a festival capable of telling the story of Abruzzo through experimental music, contemporary visual arts, and an emotional narrative of the landscape. Cicalini leads the social promotion association of the same name alongside Gioia Di Girolamo, who curates the artistic direction for the visual arts.
The heart of the editions rooted in Roccamorice is the Eremo di Santo Spirito a Maiella, one of the most evocative and spiritual sites in all of Abruzzo, carved into the stone of the Majella massif. The festival has built its identity here: sound performances that blend with the silence of the mountains, installations designed for the natural space, and talks on art and landscape, all without ever disturbing the contemplation of the site. The day traditionally concludes at the Belvedere of Roccamorice, which becomes a natural stage at sunset, featuring DJ sets and a community dinner open to the public.
Over the years, the Diorama Festival has evolved into a traveling journey to rediscover the most suggestive places in Abruzzo, while maintaining its origin and soul in Roccamorice. Since 2023, it has been under the patronage of the Ministry of Tourism, joined in 2026 by the recognition of the Ministry of Culture and the High Patronage of the Abruzzo Region, confirming its growth in the national cultural landscape.
Admission to the festival days is free, with mandatory reservations required for the shuttle service and the community dinner. A free shuttle service connects the village of Roccamorice to the Hermitage, allowing everyone to reach the site nestled in the Majella Park. You don't just come to the Diorama Festival to listen to music: you come to experience a different relationship with time, stone, and the Abruzzo landscape.
In 2026, the Diorama Festival celebrates its sixth year by transforming into a traveling journey that crosses the four Abruzzo provinces, with recognition from the Ministry of Culture and the High Patronage of the Abruzzo Region. As of today, no stop has been announced in Roccamorice, the village in the Majella Park where the festival was born in 2021. Any dates for an event in Roccamorice for 2026 have not yet been communicated.
The detailed program for any potential Roccamorice stop will be published by the organizers on the festival's official channels. For updates, you can write to [email protected] or follow the Diorama Festival's social media profiles.
Roccamorice is located in the province of Pescara, within the Majella National Park. The Eremo di Santo Spirito a Maiella can be reached from the village via the mountain road; during the festival days, a free shuttle service operates from Roccamorice to the Hermitage.
Free admission. Reservations for the shuttle and the community dinner at the Belvedere are mandatory by emailing [email protected] or contacting the festival's official social media channels.
We recommend comfortable shoes suitable for a mountain environment and layered clothing: temperatures at the Hermitage, at high altitude in the Majella, can change rapidly throughout the day.
