About Dimore Sonore e d'Arte

Dimore Sonore e d'Arte is a traveling project that blends music, art, and historical heritage within the noble palaces of the Frentano area, in the heart of Abruzzo. In Frisa, a small town in the province of Chieti, the festival stops at the Palazzo Baronale Caccianini for an evening that weaves together guided tours of historic halls, tastings of local food and wine, and a concert under the stars. It is an intimate and original way to discover a 17th-century residence by bringing it to life with live music.

A festival that brings Abruzzo's historic palaces to life

Dimore Sonore e d'Arte is a traveling festival created by the I.T.A.C.A. Association in collaboration with MusArt to foster a direct connection between the public and the historical-artistic heritage of Abruzzo. The project tours the noble palaces and historic residences of the Frentano area, in the heart of the Chieti province, transforming them for an evening into vibrant spaces where music, storytelling, and conviviality coexist. Throughout its editions, the festival has involved a network of local municipalities—including Fossacesia, San Vito Chietino, Lanciano, Paglieta, Rocca San Giovanni, Pollutri, Atessa, and Frisa—attracting around a thousand visitors.

The Frisa stop and Palazzo Caccianini

In Frisa, a town of just under 1,600 inhabitants in the Province of Chieti, the festival chooses the Palazzo Baronale Caccianini, located in Piazza Principe di Piemonte, as its setting. Built starting in the 17th century by the Caccianini family as a stately residence, the palace incorporates sections of the ancient city walls and underwent various expansions in later centuries. Today, restored by the municipal administration, it is open to the public and houses permanent and temporary exhibitions as well as the municipal art gallery.

How the evening unfolds

The formula of Dimore Sonore e d'Arte is designed to bring the visitor closer to the residence even before the music begins. The evening opens with a guided tour of the palace's rooms and the story of its history and the family that lived there; this is followed by a convivial moment featuring a tasting of local food and wine excellence, curated by local producers; the day culminates in a concert, under the artistic direction of Sarah Rulli. It is this alternation of art, taste, and music that makes the festival an experience beyond a simple concert: a walk through the memory of these places.

A network project for the Frentano territory

Dimore Sonore e d'Arte is more than just a series of concerts: it is a cultural promotion project that connects municipalities, associations, and the families who own the historic residences of the Frentano Abruzzo. Each stop is both a musical event and an opportunity to rediscover often-overlooked architectural heritage, returning it to the community. For Frisa and the Province of Chieti, the festival represents an important showcase, capable of attracting audiences from across the region and telling the story of Abruzzo through its homes and its music.
