First tracks on the snow at dawn at the Schwemmalm in Val d'Ultimo
Die erschte Spur, which means "the first track" in the South Tyrolean dialect, is a unique winter event in the Schwemmalm ski area, located in the heart of Val d'Ultimo in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Trentino-Alto Adige. On select dates in December and January, the ski lifts and slopes open early at 7:00 AM—well ahead of the usual schedule—giving skiers the privilege of being the first to glide over fresh snow groomed by snowcats.
The charm of this event lies in the magical moment of dawn at high altitude: while the first rays of sun illuminate the peaks and the valley is still wrapped in silence, skiers descend along perfectly groomed and completely deserted slopes. It is a rare experience, far from the crowds, that combines a passion for skiing with the pleasure of enjoying the mountains in their most intimate and evocative atmosphere.
After the first runs, the highlight is a mountain breakfast served in the cozy huts located directly along the Schwemmalm slopes. The participating mountain huts are:
Here, guests can recharge with traditional South Tyrolean products in a warm and convivial setting, while enjoying the view of the snow-covered mountains of Val d'Ultimo.

The resort, which extends across the territory of the Municipality of Ultimo/Ulten, features numerous slopes for all skill levels and modern lift facilities, all set within an unspoiled natural landscape. Val d'Ultimo is famous for its centuries-old farmhouses, ancient larch trees, and an alpine landscape that has preserved its authentic character.

The initiative is organized by the Val d'Ultimo/Proves Tourist Association, which promotes experiences linked to the local territory and its alpine identity every winter.
