The winter showcase of solidarity dialect theatre at the Asioli Theatre in Correggio
«Al dialèt, che passioun!» is the dialect comedy showcase that every winter fills the Bonifazio Asioli Theatre in Correggio, in the heart of the Bassa Reggiana. It is organized by the Pro Loco Correggio, which for years has brought amateur theatre companies from the area to the stage for a season of shows in the Reggiano dialect, spread between December and March. Also known as 'the theatre of solidarity', the showcase has a dual purpose: to entertain the audience and to do good, because the proceeds from each evening are donated to charity.
The heart of the event is the Emilian dialect, a living and affectionate language that local companies maintain and pass down from evening to evening. The comedies staged are brilliant, popular, and full of double entendres, misunderstandings, and local characters: theatre made by enthusiasts for enthusiasts, where the audience rediscovers the expressions, sayings, and irony of their land. Historic companies from the Reggiano area take to the stage, such as Arcobaleno Fosdondo, La querza ed ganasce, La tregua d'la pavera, I Fiaschi di Novellara, and Al Surbet, each with its own repertoire of comedies in the local dialect.
The most characteristic aspect of «Al dialèt, che passioun!» is its charitable purpose: at the end of each season, the companies and Pro Loco donate the proceeds to support local associations and projects. Going to the theatre thus becomes a community gesture, in the full spirit of a Pro Loco that makes the promotion of the town and solidarity its mission. The affordable ticket price and free admission for young people make the evenings accessible to families and enthusiasts of all ages.
The evenings are held at the Bonifazio Asioli Theatre, the historic Italian-style theatre in Correggio named after the famous composer from Correggio, located on Corso Cavour. An elegant and intimate hall, perfect for the warmth of a dialect evening, in the centre of this town in Emilia-Romagna, also famous as the birthplace of the painter Antonio Allegri, known as 'Correggio'.
The 2026 edition of the Pro Loco Correggio dialect showcase took place between late January and March at the Bonifazio Asioli Theatre, with five evenings of comedies in the Reggiano dialect. Some of the most well-known companies from the area performed, for a programme focused on popular comedy and solidarity, with proceeds donated to charity.
All performances at 8:30 PM at the Bonifazio Asioli Theatre in Correggio.
The evenings are part of the broader 2025/2026 dialect theatre showcase of the Asioli Theatre, which opened in December 2025.
The return of the historic companies from the Reggiano area — Arcobaleno Fosdondo, La querza ed ganasce, I Fiaschi di Novellara, Al Surbet — and the final evening on March 21 entrusted to the socio-occupational workshop, a symbol of the showcase's solidarity spirit.
