The Cupello Carnival, a community celebration in the Vastese region

The Cupello Carnival is one of the most anticipated winter events for this town in the province of Chieti, nestled in the rolling hills of the Vastese hinterland in Abruzzo. Every year, during the carnival season, the streets and squares of the historic center fill with color, music, and cheer for the traditional parade of allegorical floats, a moment that involves the entire community and has become a true collective ritual for all ages.

The parade of allegorical floats

In the early afternoon, the town streets turn into an open-air stage: the floats, each with its own unique creativity, parade along the city route, spreading messages of joy and festivity. They are accompanied by masked groups, children in costume, and a flurry of confetti and streamers that color the air. The Cupello Carnival is the result of the hard work of numerous local organizations, which build their own floats and displays each year with passion and ingenuity.
