One of the longest-running festivals in Umbria, in the kingdom of porchetta
The Costano Porchetta Festival is one of the most beloved and long-standing gastronomic events in Umbria. It takes place in the last ten days of August in the hamlet of Costano, in the Municipality of Bastia Umbra (province of Perugia), where thousands of visitors gather every evening to celebrate the symbolic dish of Umbrian tradition.
The festival is set up in an area of about 8,000 square meters, with food stalls serving porchetta in many versions - from the classic "co' l'osso" (with bone) to sandwiches with porchetta - alongside handmade gnocchi and other traditional peasant dishes, such as tripe, lamb, and pork second courses. An organizational machine that mobilizes hundreds of volunteers.
A large equipped area is dedicated to music and dancing: Italian orchestras perform with liscio and traditional music from afternoon until late at night, accompanying a festival that involves all ages.
Organized by the APS Gruppo Giovanile Costano, the festival celebrated its half-century milestone in 2025, confirming itself as an identity event for the community of Costano and for the entire territory of Bastia Umbra, a land where porchetta is an authentic gastronomic symbol.
The 2026 edition, the 51st, confirms the festival in the last ten days of August, from the 21st to the 30th. Thousands of people flock to the streets of Costano to taste porchetta in its many versions and handmade gnocchi, while the large music area hosts Italian orchestras from afternoon until late at night.
The detailed musical program for the 2026 edition, with the names of the orchestras and evening shows, will be published by the APS Gruppo Giovanile Costano on the official website and social media channels in the weeks preceding the festival.
