About I Primi d'Italia

Pasta, rice, soups, gnocchi, and polenta: in Foligno, every September, the first course becomes the absolute protagonist. I Primi d'Italia is the only national festival dedicated to Italian first courses: for four days, the historic center transforms into a delicious map of Food Villages, show cooking with starred chefs, cooking classes, fresh pasta workshops, and continuous tastings. A journey through regional recipes from all over Italy, with free admission.

The festival of first courses

I Primi d'Italia is the first and only National Festival dedicated to Italian first courses. It takes place every September in the historic center of Foligno, in the province of Perugia, and celebrates the iconic dish of Italian cuisine: pasta, rice, soups, gnocchi, and polenta, presented in their infinite regional variations.

Food Villages

During the festival days, the taverns of the Quintana districts transform into Food Villages, thematic stations where you can taste first courses prepared according to traditional recipes and reinterpreted by great chefs. A widespread gastronomic journey that crosses the squares and streets of the center.

Show cooking and workshops

The program alternates show cooking with starred chefs in the event A Tavola con le Stelle (Dining with the Stars), cooking classes, and fresh pasta workshops open to all ages, where you can learn to make pasta by hand or discover new techniques. There are also exhibitions, conferences, and entertainment.

A national showcase

Now in its twenty-fifth edition, the festival represents a showcase for Italian artisan pasta makers and quality products, attracting thousands of good food enthusiasts to Foligno and Umbria. Admission is free.
