The great auteur short cinema meets in the Dolomites
Cortinametraggio is one of the most important Italian festivals dedicated to short films. Its home is Cortina d'Ampezzo, in the province of Belluno, the renowned alpine resort known as the "Queen of the Dolomites". For a week, the town becomes a meeting point for emerging directors, industry professionals, and short film enthusiasts.
The heart of the festival is the short film competition, featuring works selected from contemporary productions. Alongside screenings, the program includes masterclasses, talks, and a jury composed of prominent figures from Italian cinema. Over the years, the festival has hosted actors, directors, and personalities from the entertainment world, as well as focusing on international cinematographies.
Cortinametraggio dedicates great attention to the training of young filmmakers, with the CSC Lab, a masterclass on filmmaking professions that connects new talents with established professionals. Through screenings, evening events, and side activities, the festival combines film culture with the unique setting of the Dolomites, helping to promote Cortina d'Ampezzo as the capital of short films, also in view of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Games.
The XXI edition of Cortinametraggio takes place from March 23 to 29, 2026, in Cortina d'Ampezzo. In competition are 23 short films selected from contemporary productions, with a special focus on Romanian cinema, presented as a privileged window into Eastern European cinematic creativity.
The detailed program of screenings and events is available on the official website www.cortinametraggio.it.
Cortina d'Ampezzo can be reached by car from the A27 motorway (exit Pian di Vedoia) and then along the SS51; bus services connect Cortina to Calalzo and Venice.
Screenings and events take place in various locations in Cortina d'Ampezzo, with a central hub for meetings and side activities.
