The seaside running race in Polignano
CorsAmare is one of the most beloved running events on the Bari coast. Held every year in late February in Polignano a Mare, in the heart of the Adriatic side of Puglia, it transforms the streets of the famous cliffside village into a race course open to athletes of all levels. The name itself, a play on the words "corsa" (run) and "amare" (to love/by the sea), captures the spirit of the event: a love for running, the sea, and one's own town.
The event is organized by ASD Atletica Polignano in collaboration with the Puglia section of the Italian Athletics Federation (FIDAL) and under the patronage of the Municipality of Polignano a Mare. The program offers two ways to participate:
The meeting point and start are in Piazza Aldo Moro, in the town center, and the route winds through scenic roads overlooking the Adriatic.
CorsAmare is dedicated to the memory of Luigi Liuzzi, a figure deeply connected to the local athletics scene. The race continues his legacy through the Memorial named in his honor, strengthening the bond between the sport and the local community.
Beyond the competition, CorsAmare is an opportunity to discover Polignano a Mare in the off-season, when the village is less crowded and the winter light enhances the cliffs, sea caves, and white houses of the historic center. The event attracts runners from across the province of Bari and all of Puglia, helping to promote the region through sport and an active, outdoor lifestyle.
The sixteenth edition of CorsAmare took place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, in Polignano a Mare, in the province of Bari. The meeting point was set for 7:30 AM in Piazza Aldo Moro, with the competitive race starting at 9:00 AM over a distance of approximately 10 kilometers. Five minutes later, the parallel non-competitive event for "independent" runners began.
The race, valid as a FIDAL Puglia regional event, saw Rocco Cera triumph in the men's category and Francesca Pastore in the women's category. Timing was provided by Tempogara.
Meeting point and start in Piazza Aldo Moro, in the center of Polignano a Mare (BA). The race is traditionally held on a Sunday in February, with a morning gathering and a late-morning start.
