Agri-food and artisanal excellence in the Sicani village, between legality and sustainable development
Corleone Free and Productive is the festival that promotes the productive, economic, cultural, agricultural, and tourist excellence of Corleone, a charming Sicani village in the Province of Palermo, in the heart of inland Sicily. Launched in 2025, the event offers a narrative of the territory that intertwines work, the quality of local products, and the values of legality and sustainable development, presenting the image of a community that expresses itself through its own resources.
The heart of the event beats between the Villa Comunale and Piazza Falcone e Borsellino, two symbolic spaces in the town of Corleone. Exhibition stands welcome local agricultural, wine, and dairy companies, while the village opens its streets to itineraries discovering the natural landscape, monuments, and churches that testify to the strong devotion to San Leoluca, the city's patron saint, San Bernardo da Corleone, and Santa Rosalia.
The absolute protagonists are local products, ranging from beekeeping to livestock, from cheeses to cereals, and from ancient grains to extra virgin olive oil. Among the most representative excellences are saffron, the Corleone curly tomato, red pumpkin, and local fruits such as pears, plums, and cherries. There is no shortage of niche products like tuma cheese and local siccagno tomato sauce.
The event is the result of collaboration between the Sicilian Region, the municipal administration of Corleone, and the local Pro Loco, together with local economic operators. The common thread is the link between ethics, work, and growth: in Corleone, a land full of memory and redemption, productive excellence becomes a tool for sustainable development and the affirmation of the values of legality.
The second edition of Corleone Free and Productive was held on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, 2026, between the Villa Comunale and Piazza Falcone e Borsellino, with thousands of visitors over the two days.
On Saturday afternoon, in Piazza Falcone e Borsellino, a show cooking event took place with local operators preparing baked goods made with ancient grains and local specialties such as tuma cheese and Corleone siccagno tomato sauce.
On Sunday, June 7, at 10:30 AM, the conference "Seeds of Legality, Fruits of Development: the dialogue between Corleone and Casal di Principe" was held in the council chamber, with a delegation from Casal di Principe and an award dedicated to the memory of Don Peppe Diana.
Throughout the event, the stands offered local excellence: beekeeping, cheeses, cereals, extra virgin olive oil, saffron, Corleone curly tomato, red pumpkin, and local fruit.
