The Coppa Italia Downhill stage in the Sestriere Alps, Piedmont
Sestriere, the pearl of the Via Lattea in the upper Susa Valley, is one of the most iconic alpine destinations in the Province of Turin and all of Piedmont. A kingdom of skiing in winter, the town transforms into a massive mountain bike park in summer, hosting one of the most anticipated stages of the Coppa Italia Downhill, the national gravity mountain bike circuit organized by Sport Inside A.S.D.
The race brings the best Italian downhill specialists to Sestriere: athletes who tackle a demanding course, launching themselves at full speed down the mountain in a test of technique, courage, and control. It is a sporting spectacle that draws enthusiasts, families, and curious onlookers, all ready to cheer on the riders along the course and at the finish line.
The heart of the event is the Downtower track, Sestriere's downhill course that starts in the Monte Fraiteve area and descends toward the village. It is a descent designed to deliver thrills and adrenaline, reserved for the most experienced riders: it alternates fast alpine flow sections with technical, rocky sectors, with speeds that put the discipline's champions to the test. The high altitude, over 2,000 meters, and the panoramic views of the Cottian Alps make the setting even more evocative.
For bike transport, the Vialattea summer lifts are used: the Sestriere-Fraiteve gondola and the Nube d'Argento chairlift, equipped for mountain bikes and e-bikes, which allow athletes and spectators to comfortably reach the start during the race weekend.
The Sestriere stage is part of a circuit that touches some of the most renowned gravity destinations in the Alps. For Sestriere and the entire Via Lattea area, it is also an opportunity to showcase its summer vocation, consisting of trails, bike parks, and tracks of all difficulty levels connected as far as Sauze d'Oulx.
Watching the race is free: simply reach the course or the finish area to experience the thrill of downhill racing in the mountains of Sestriere up close.
