The arts festival of Villa Castelli featuring music, visual arts, and poetry
The Contaminazioni Festival is a multidisciplinary event held in Villa Castelli, a town in the province of Brindisi, in the heart of the Messapian Puglia region, nestled between Grottaglie, Ceglie Messapica, and Francavilla Fontana. Conceived and organized by the cultural association Laboratorio Collettivo, the festival was established in 2013 with the aim of promoting and giving a voice to all forms of artistic expression, both local and national.
The very name of the event speaks to its nature: here, the arts cross-pollinate. Live music, considered the queen of the arts, acts as a common thread, engaging in dialogue with visual installations, spontaneous painting, photography, sculpture, theater, street performances, and poetry trails. The result is a fusion of musical and artistic projects that transforms the town's squares and spaces into an open-air laboratory.
Over the years, the festival has enlivened iconic locations in Villa Castelli, such as Largo Chiesa Vecchia (Piazza Caduti di Nassiriya), a charming square in the historic center overlooking the Old Church, and the headquarters of the Laboratorio Collettivo on Via Puccini. Admission to the events is traditionally free of charge, in line with the participatory and community-driven spirit that inspires the association.
More than just a simple review, the Contaminazioni Festival has become a cultural hub for Villa Castelli and the Messapian area of the Brindisi province, capable of offering space to emerging Apulian artists and bringing national-level projects to a small town. The festival's formula combines summer evening entertainment with a reflection on the value of the arts and their interconnectedness, providing the local community with a signature event of the Salento and Messapian summer.
The 2026 edition of the Contaminazioni Festival unfolds in Villa Castelli as a summer series of sounds and visions promoted by Laboratorio Collettivo. During the months of June and July, the first events of the festival took place, combining live music with training opportunities, including a workshop dedicated to the world of musical professions. In continuity with the tradition of the event, this edition brings together concerts, visual arts, and installations in the spaces of the historic center of Villa Castelli, in the province of Brindisi. Further dates for the summer program are currently being announced: it is recommended to check the updated calendar on the association's official channels.
