Sacred music at the Pieve of Cavalese to renew the vow to the Madonna Addolorata of Fiemme
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Concerto per l'Addolorata is an annual sacred music event held at the Pieve di Santa Maria Assunta in Cavalese, the historic capital of the Val di Fiemme, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Promoted by the Associazione Culturale Le Muse e le Dolomiti, the event was established to honor the Madonna Addolorata of Fiemme, a figure deeply rooted in the local community's faith.
The concert renews an ancient vow made by the people of Fiemme, linked to the valley's protection from wars and famines throughout the centuries. Next to the Pieve stands the Sanctuary that houses the venerated effigy: a building erected at the end of the Second World War as a sign of gratitude and remembrance. For this reason, the concert is not just a musical event, but a moment of reflection and identity for the community of Cavalese and the entire Val di Fiemme.
Each edition features significant works from the sacred repertoire, performed by soloists, choir, and instrumentalists within the evocative acoustics of the Pieve. The program unites the spiritual dimension of Marian devotion with the artistic quality of performers from diverse musical backgrounds, offering the public an experience that weaves together faith, culture, and the Dolomite landscape.
In 2025, the fourth edition featured Gioachino Rossini's Stabat Mater in a version for soloists, mixed choir, and piano. The evening held special significance, coinciding with the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, in close connection with the history of the Sanctuary of the Addolorata.
Cavalese and the Val di Fiemme, famous for skiing, resonance forests, and traditional craftsmanship, offer visitors an ideal setting for a cultural appointment such as this. The Concerto per l'Addolorata represents an opportunity to discover the Pieve, its artistic heritage, and the spirituality that has animated this mountain community for centuries.
