A Greek night in the heart of the Valdarno
Every summer, the village of Loro Ciuffenna, set in the upper Valdarno in the province of Arezzo, turns into an open-air Mediterranean-inspired set. Following previous editions themed around "Aspen," "Ibiza," and "Mykonos," the festival returns in 2026 under the name Come se fosse Santorini: the town's historic center, with Piazza Giacomo Matteotti as its beating heart, becomes a Cycladic corner for one night, filled with white, blue, and imaginary sunsets.
The event was originally born as "Come se fosse Mykonos," but the municipal administration chose to change the name as a sign of respect for Sara, a young local woman who passed away in a tragic accident on the island of Mykonos. It is a symbolic gesture that keeps the spirit of the festival intact while changing its ideal setting, moving from the island of nightlife to the one with the most beautiful sunsets in the Aegean.
The heart of the evening is the music. The town is divided into three themed areas inspired by Greek beaches, each with its own sound: from Mediterranean vibes during the aperitivo to house and techno late into the night. DJ sets, live performances, and entertainment moments alternate, with artists animating the squares until the early hours of the morning.
The culinary offerings are entirely dedicated to Greek cuisine: gyros, moussaka, spanakopita, fried calamari, Greek salad, and yogurt-based desserts, alongside original reinterpretations created for the occasion. Stalls and kitchens are spread throughout the town center, accompanying the public throughout the evening.
Come se fosse Santorini is not just a dance party: it is a community celebration organized by the Municipality of Loro Ciuffenna together with the Pro Loco and local businesses. Children's entertainment, markets, scenic beach-themed decorations, photo booths, and performance moments complete an appointment that, edition after edition, has become one of the most anticipated summer events in the Arezzo Valdarno, in Tuscany. Admission is completely free.
The 2026 edition of Come se fosse Santorini takes place on Saturday, July 4, in Loro Ciuffenna, continuing until 2 AM on Sunday, July 5. The town center is divided into three themed areas inspired by Greek beaches (christened for the occasion with evocative names like Red Beach, Perissa Beach, and White Beach), each with its own musical offering. Children's entertainment, a market, scenic decorations, and photographers complete the evening, with free admission.
Throughout the evening: market, beach-themed scenic decorations, selfie stations, and photographers.
Loro Ciuffenna is located in the upper Valdarno, in the province of Arezzo. By car, it can be reached from the A1 motorway (Valdarno or Arezzo exits) by continuing towards the Setteponti road. The nearest train station is San Giovanni Valdarno, on the Florence-Arezzo line, from where you can continue by bus or car.
The festival takes place from the afternoon of July 4 (aperitivo from approximately 6:30 PM) until the early hours of July 5. Admission is open and free.
The event takes place in the historic center: it is recommended to park in areas outside the town and reach the squares on foot. Comfortable, Greek-Mediterranean themed clothing is welcome.
