Come Allora: when crafts tell the story of the land

Come Allora - Farm Fair is the spring event that brings Valle Pepe to life—an ethical mountain farm located along the Via Carpinetana, above the village of Bassiano in the province of Latina, in the heart of the Lepini Mountains. For two days, the countryside becomes a place of gathering and memory, celebrating the roots of the farming world and the intangible heritage of field life, craftsmanship, and sustainable animal husbandry.

Traditional crafts

The central theme of the fair is traditional crafts. Along the farm paths, artisans set up stalls to demonstrate their work live: weaving, wood carving, and raw material processing like cheesemaking. Visitors can observe ancient techniques up close, ask questions, and understand how objects and food were created before the industrial age. It is a tangible way to pass on knowledge that risks being lost to new generations.

Shepherding in the Lepini Mountains

Each edition explores a specific local theme. A major highlight is the shepherding of the Lepini Mountains, featuring the talk "Lepini Shepherding: Unique Flavors and Knowledge," an opportunity to discuss an activity that remains a living cultural heritage and to present training projects like the Slow Food Italy School of Shepherding in Calascio. The farm's horses and other pack animals are also stars of the show, making for a wonderful day spent outdoors in nature.

Tastes and local products

The fair is also a culinary journey: among the stalls, you can discover and taste local products from the Lepini area, from cheeses to traditional pastoral and peasant flavors. The close partnership with Slow Food Monti Lepini e Ausoni Aps ensures a focus on quality, biodiversity, and short supply chains—values that are at the core of Valle Pepe's identity as an ethical farm.

A community event

Promoted by Valle Pepe in collaboration with the Compagnia dei Lepini and Slow Food, Come Allora is designed as a participatory, family-friendly event with a nominal entry fee and free admission for children. Beyond the festivities, the event pursues a clear goal: to enhance the cultural and productive roots of the Lepini Mountains and combat the depopulation of inland Lazio through sustainable regional development.
