Colognora di Valleriana is an ancient walled village resting on a rocky spur at an altitude of about 500 meters, in the area known as Svizzera Pesciatina, a region of castles and chestnut groves stretching between Lucca and Pistoia. Its stone houses, arranged in a ring, follow the layout of the ancient fortifications, while the Church of San Michele, with its unique bell gable, dominates the town. Colognora is also famous for its distinct dialect, considered a true linguistic island: a rarity that adds to its charm.
