About Cogolo Festival

The Cogolo Festival is one of the most anticipated local celebrations in Val di Pejo, located in the municipality of Peio, Trentino-Alto Adige. Every late August, the former school square in the village of Cogolo comes alive for three days with grilled specialties, barley soup, spätzle, and other mountain delicacies, alongside live concerts, late-night DJ sets, dance evenings, a church service with a brass band procession, and plenty of entertainment for families. Organized by the Gruppo Giovani Cogolo, it is a community event that blends authentic flavors, folklore, and joy.

The Cogolo Festival: A village celebration in Val di Pejo

The Cogolo Festival is one of the most heartfelt and popular events in Val di Pejo, within the municipality of Peio, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year, towards the end of August, the village of Cogolo di Pejo transforms into the beating heart of the valley: the Piazzale Ex Scuole hosts gazebos, kitchens, stages, and outdoor tables for three days, nestled among the mountains of the Stelvio National Park.

A tradition carried on by the local youth

The event is organized by the Gruppo Giovani Cogolo, the association that puts together the festival every summer with the help of the entire community. It is this spirit of volunteerism that gives the festival its authentic character: it is not an event manufactured for tourism, but a village celebration that has grown over time, capable of attracting residents, vacationers, and hikers from all over the Val di Sole.

Trentino cuisine takes center stage

The true theme of the festival is traditional Trentino cuisine. Over the three days, mountain dishes are prepared and served by volunteers:

  • grilled meats;
  • barley soup, a signature dish of the Alpine winter;
  • spätzle, traditional Tyrolean-style dumplings;
  • local desserts and specialties accompanied by regional wines and beers.

Music, dance, and entertainment

The festival is not just about gastronomy: every evening features live concerts, DJ sets that continue late into the night, and ballroom dancing evenings with orchestras and folk groups. There is also plenty of entertainment for children and activities for families, making the event suitable for all ages.

Religious and community moments

As with many Trentino village festivals, the festive component is accompanied by a religious and community aspect: the mass with a procession, accompanied by the Val di Pejo brass band, marks the final day and honors the traditional roots of the celebration. It is a moment when the Cogolo community gathers, before concluding the festival with lunch and final hours of music and dance.

Why attend

Those vacationing in Val di Pejo or Val di Sole at the end of summer will find the Cogolo Festival an ideal opportunity to savor authentic mountain cuisine, experience the genuine atmosphere of an Alpine village, and discover the warmth of a community that opens its doors to everyone.
