Classic and More in Ora, the musical heart of the Bassa Atesina

Classic and More is a classical and chamber music festival that enlivens the towns of the Bassa Atesina (Unterland) every summer, the southernmost part of the autonomous province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. The festival was born with the idea of bringing great music away from the main circuits and into the halls, churches, and civic spaces of these bilingual towns. The Municipality of Ora/Auer is one of the stops on the tour and hosts one of the concerts in its Aula Magna.

A traveling festival through the Unterland towns

The unique feature of Classic and More is its traveling and inter-municipal nature: every evening the location changes, moving between the towns of the Bassa Atesina. During each edition, the festival usually visits Cortina sulla Strada del Vino, Cortaccia, Ora, Montagna, Trodena, Egna, and Salorno, allowing the public to discover a different corner of the territory each time. In Ora, the concert takes place in the Aula Magna, an intimate space perfectly suited for chamber music.

Classical music in a new guise

The festival presents itself as "classical music in a new guise": alongside evening concerts of major repertoire, the program includes educational events, concerts dedicated to families and children, forays into different genres such as flamenco, and performances that combine sound and imagery. At the center remains chamber music — string quartets, wind ensembles, duos, and soloists — with an artistic level curated by the festival's management, which over the years has brought both South Tyrolean musicians and international guests to the Bassa Atesina.

Free admission and popular appeal

One of the hallmarks of Classic and More is that it is free of charge: concerts have free admission, with the possibility of a voluntary donation. This choice makes the festival an accessible opportunity for everyone to engage with classical music, from families to young people, making it a beloved fixture for the communities of the various Unterland towns.

Ora and the Bassa Atesina
