Three nights of live music in the heart of Lanciano
The Civica Fenaroli Music Festival is a summer musical event conceived and organized by the "Fedele Fenaroli" Civic Music Institution, the historic music school of the Municipality of Lanciano, in the province of Chieti, Abruzzo. Created to showcase the educational and artistic work of the school, the festival brings live music to the squares and streets of the historic center, with free admission for all.
For several consecutive nights in July, the city's outdoor spaces turn into a natural stage. Performances are held on Corso Trento e Trieste, the beating heart of city life, and in other iconic locations, typically starting at 9:30 PM. The artistic direction is entrusted to Maestro Roberto De Grandis, who curates a program each year that blends different styles and genres.
The festival's program is intentionally eclectic and appeals to a wide audience: past editions have featured ethnic music and pan flute concerts, blues and soul bands, jazz ensembles, and performances highlighting the repertoire of the school's students and teachers. The free entry and the location in the historic center make the festival a gathering point for both locals and the many visitors flocking to Abruzzo during the summer.
The festival is named after Fedele Fenaroli, a composer and music theorist born in Lanciano in the 18th century, a key figure of the Neapolitan school. The Civic Music Institution that bears his name is today a benchmark for musical education in the Frentano area and has also launched international projects, such as the International Pan Flute School.
The Civica Fenaroli Music Festival is part of the rich Lanciano Estate calendar, the summer program promoted by the City Administration that enlivens the city with dozens of events including theater, concerts, exhibitions, and sports. Lanciano, an art city in the Adriatic Abruzzo region famous for the Eucharistic Miracle and its medieval churches, thus offers visitors a summer filled with culture and live music.
The fourth edition of the Civica Fenaroli Music Festival enlivens the historic center of Lanciano from July 25 to 27, 2026. The three concerts take place on Corso Trento e Trieste, starting at 9:30 PM with free admission, under the artistic direction of Maestro Roberto De Grandis.
The event, organized by the "Fedele Fenaroli" Civic Music Institution of the Municipality of Lanciano, is part of the Lanciano Estate 2026 calendar.
Lanciano can be reached by car via the A14 motorway (Lanciano-Val di Sangro exit) or the Frentana state road. The Lanciano train station is connected to the Adriatic line. The nearest airport is Pescara-Abruzzo, about 50 km away.
