Flowers, art, and colors in the historic center of Naso
Ciuri Arti e Culuri — which means «Flowers, Art and Colors» in Sicilian — is the event that every June transforms the historic center of Naso, a charming village in the Nebrodi mountains in the province of Messina, into a vast open-air art trail. Conceived and organized by the Pro Loco of Naso, led by Giovanni Sapienza, and supported by the Municipality of Naso, the festival was established in 2024 and has quickly become one of the most anticipated events on the Tyrrhenian coast of Messina.
For an entire day, the alleys, portals, and ancient courtyards of the historic center are adorned with floral arrangements, installations, and works created by sculptors, painters, artisans, and master florists from across Sicily. The village streets fill with vibrant colors and scents, while the squares host performances, live music, and exhibitions. The event perfectly blends the promotion of Naso's artistic and architectural heritage with the celebration of local folk traditions.
The program offers a mix of cultural moments and entertainment for all ages: parades, street theater, puppet shows, children's activities, and concerts that keep the village buzzing until late. Recurring highlights include performances by the Gruppo Folk città di Naso and an exhibition of vintage vehicles, which draw numerous enthusiasts and visitors alike.
More than just a festival, Ciuri Arti e Culuri is a community project. The organizers' stated goal is to strengthen a sense of belonging and promote the Nebrodi territory, set between the mountains and views of the Aeolian Islands. The event helps establish Naso as a tourist destination in the Tyrrhenian-Nebrodi area, fostering a dialogue between contemporary art, craftsmanship, and deep-rooted Sicilian heritage.
Ciuri Arti e Culuri is traditionally held on a day in mid-June in the heart of Naso's historic center. Access to the village streets is free, and the atmosphere is that of a grand village fair open to residents, curious travelers, and tourists.
The third edition of Ciuri Arti e Culuri was held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, in the historic center of Naso, in the Messina Nebrodi mountains. The day combined art exhibitions along the village streets, a vintage vehicle show, and performances by the Gruppo Folk città di Naso, creating an open-air trail of flowers, colors, and tradition.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4:30 PM in Piazza Roma was accompanied by a parade of the Giganti di Bellantone and the inflation of a hot air balloon. This was followed by a packed schedule of shows that entertained the historic center until the evening.
Throughout the day: art exhibitions along the village streets, vintage vehicle show, and entertainment by the Gruppo Folk città di Naso.
Naso is located in the Nebrodi mountains, in the province of Messina. By car: take the A20 Messina-Palermo motorway, exit at Brolo-Capo d'Orlando, then follow local roads toward Naso. By train: arrive at the Capo d'Orlando-Naso station on the Tyrrhenian line, then continue by bus or car to the village.
Access to the historic center and outdoor activities is free.
