Cinema under the stars returns to Lastra a Signa

CineGiardino "Dentro le Mura" is the summer open-air film festival that, from June 14 to August 10, 2026, will bring life to the historic center of Lastra a Signa, a town in the Metropolitan City of Florence, Tuscany. After years of absence, the big screen returns to the town thanks to a new arena set up in the Giardino delle Mura, a green space reclaimed within the famous 15th-century walls that still define the village today.

Where and when

Screenings are held every Sunday and Monday evening, starting at 9:30 PM, for a total of eighteen nights throughout the summer. The setting is the Giardino delle Mura, in the heart of Lastra a Signa's historic center, just steps away from the ancient gates and walkways that were part of the village's medieval defensive system. In case of bad weather, screenings will not be cancelled but moved indoors to the Teatro delle Arti on Via Matteotti.

The four thematic sections

The 2026 program is built around four sections that accompany the viewer throughout the summer, alternating recent films, comedies, international titles, and auteur cinema:

• La Dolce Estate — a light and bright selection designed for early-season evenings;
• France Mon Amour — a tribute to French cinema and its unique atmosphere;
• Visioni al femminile — a focus on women's stories and perspectives on the big screen;
• Linee d'ombra — a more intense section dedicated to auteur cinema and acclaimed international titles.

The festival features recent films by prominent Italian and international directors, aiming to offer the public a varied program that blends entertainment with quality.

A community project

CineGiardino "Dentro le Mura" is promoted by the Teatro delle Arti of Lastra a Signa together with the Municipality of Lastra a Signa, with technical support from Unicoop Firenze. More than just a summer arena, the initiative was born with the intent of giving the village a space for meeting and socializing during the summer, while enhancing the historic heritage of the center. A small bar is open during the evenings, making the Giardino delle Mura a place to linger before and after the screening.

Affordable prices

One of the festival's strengths is its accessibility: the single ticket costs 5 euros. A special pass is also available for Unicoop members, allowing them to attend four screenings at a discounted price of 3 euros each. This formula is designed to encourage participation and make cinema under the stars a regular summer appointment in Lastra a Signa.
