The environmental documentary caravan stops at the Castello dei Marchesi del Carretto
In the heart of the Alta Langa, on the border between the province of Cuneo and southern Piedmont, the small town of Saliceto hosts one of the most evocative stops of the Cine per la Terra traveling festival. The event, conceived and organized by the Associazione Strada 661 La Pedaggera, is a true caravan of documentary films and meetings that travels along the ridge of the ancient Pedaggera road—the historic route that once connected the Langhe to the sea—to reflect on the food, landscape, and cultural potential of a territory rich in biodiversity.
Cine per la Terra is not a festival concentrated in a single location: it is a widespread project involving a dozen communities in the Alta Langa and surrounding valleys, from Paroldo to Murazzano, from Ceva to Camerana, and from Belvedere Langhe to Roccavignale. Each stop offers screenings, conferences, walks, and social moments, always with a keen eye on the environment, sustainable agriculture, and the culture of good living. The Saliceto stop is specifically dedicated to the Sorgenti del Belbo Nature Reserve, the protected area that guards the spring waters of the river that gives the valley its name.
The heart of the Saliceto event is the Castello dei Marchesi del Carretto, an ancient fortified residence that overlooks the village and tells centuries of history of the Del Carretto family, lords of the Alta Langa. The venue was not chosen by chance: the historic setting of the manor amplifies the link between built heritage and natural heritage, which is the common thread of the festival. Before the conference, the Municipality of Saliceto offers a guided tour of the castle, an opportunity to discover its halls and the panoramic view over the surrounding hills.
The main event features naturalist Franco Correggia, a deep connoisseur of Piedmontese hill flora, who guides the public to discover the ecological role of trees and forests as engines of biodiversity. The day concludes with an aperitif made with products from local farms, in a festive and sharing atmosphere that is the hallmark of Cine per la Terra. Admission to all events is free.
The 2026 Saliceto stop is part of the "Barefoot in the Park – Feeling the Earth" festival, dedicated to the Sorgenti del Belbo Nature Reserve. The event at the Castello dei Marchesi del Carretto combines scientific outreach, historical heritage, and conviviality, with free admission to all events.
The meeting is part of the Cine per la Terra festival program dedicated to the Sorgenti del Belbo Nature Reserve.
