The widespread festival of Cilento arrives in Bellosguardo
Cilentart Fest is a travelling summer festival that brings theatre, music, and performing arts to the villages of Cilento, in the province of Salerno, Campania. Produced by the Teatro Pubblico Campano with the support of the Campania Region and the Ministry of Culture, the festival has no single venue: each evening it moves to a different municipality, using the territory itself as a stage—squares, open spaces, churchyards, paths, and scenic overlooks. It is a formula that provides visibility even to the smaller inland towns that are usually left out of live performance circuits.
In 2026, for its sixth edition, the Municipality of Bellosguardo joins the Cilentart Fest circuit for the first time alongside Pollica, joining the municipalities already part of the network: Moio della Civitella, Perito, Agropoli, San Giovanni a Piro, Trentinara, and Gioi. For a town of a few hundred inhabitants, this means hosting, in a single evening, productions that tour Italian theatres and seeing their town centre used as a performance space. It is therefore neither a patronal feast nor a food festival, but a stop on a regional cultural project that relies on the local community.
The day in Bellosguardo is structured as a small dramaturgy that spans the entire evening: it begins at sunset with a show suitable for families, continues with the main theatrical performance, and closes late at night with a travelling parade that keeps the audience moving through the town. This is a recurring choice of the festival: alternating more demanding "listening" theatre with light, choral, and open-air formats that engage even those who do not regularly attend theatres.
The 2026 lineup brings together well-known names from the Italian theatre and music scene. Announced artists include Massimiliano Gallo with "Lettera ad Eduardo", the Massimo Lopez Show, Filippo Nigro with "Every Brilliant Thing", Mimmo Borrelli with "Il gelo", Peppino Mazzotta with "Radio Argo Suite", and Paola Minaccioni. The musical side features, among others, Dardust with "Urban Impressionism (piano solo)", Gabriele Esposito, and Walter Ricci, in addition to the dawn concerts hosted in Agropoli, Scario, and Trentinara. The picture is completed by the contemporary circus of Circo Zoé, the participatory dance of Anna Basti, family shows by La Baracca dei Buffoni, and training activities.
Those spending the summer on the Cilento coast often associate the area only with the sea and archaeological sites. Cilentart Fest is a concrete opportunity to head inland and discover towns like Bellosguardo in the evening light, when temperatures drop and the squares fill up. The evening of performance thus becomes a visit to the town: you arrive in the late afternoon, take a walk, have dinner locally, and stay until the closing show. It is the simplest way to understand how Campania is trying to combine live performance with the enhancement of inland areas.
Bellosguardo's debut at Cilentart Fest is concentrated in a single day, but built on three distinct moments that accompany the audience from sunset to night. It starts with a light format also designed for children, continues with the main theatrical performance of the evening, and closes with a travelling parade that moves spectators along the streets of the town.
The sixth edition involves Moio della Civitella, Perito, Agropoli, San Giovanni a Piro, Trentinara, Gioi, and, for the first time, Pollica and Bellosguardo. Twelve days of programming with theatre, music, stand-up comedy, contemporary circus, participatory dance, dawn concerts, activities for children, and training paths, under the artistic direction of Alfredo Balsamo and Vittorio Stasi.
The festival is produced by the Teatro Pubblico Campano with the support of the Campania Region and the Ministry of Culture. The official presentation of the 2026 edition was held in Salerno on June 11th, 2026, in the presence of the administrators of the involved municipalities.
Sixth edition of Cilentart Fest, from August 1st to 12th, 2026, in eight Cilento municipalities.
The times and locations of individual stops are published on the official festival programme.
The festival takes place from August 1st to 12th, 2026, in the eight municipalities of the network. The Bellosguardo stop (province of Salerno) is scheduled for Thursday, August 6th, 2026, with performances from 7:00 PM until late at night.
Bellosguardo is located in the Cilento hinterland: the most practical way to reach it is by car, leaving the vehicle at the entrances to the town, as the shows are held in the open spaces of the village and the central streets may be closed to traffic during the evening parade.
Information, updated programme, and bookings are available on the official website cilentartfest.it and through the Vivaticket circuit. It is advisable to book paid shows in advance, as the open-air spaces in the villages have limited capacity.
Bring a light sweater for the evening, comfortable footwear for walking on the cobblestones of the historic centre, and arrive a little early to secure a spot.
