About Ciboperbacco

Ciboperbacco is the food and wine festival that lights up the historic center of Melissano, in lower Salento near Lecce, every summer. For two evenings, the town's squares—Marconi, Garibaldi, and Vecchia—come alive with food stalls, Salento wineries, street food areas, artisan markets, and live music. This free event, organized by the Pro Loco, showcases the authentic flavors of the region, including rosé wine, pasticciotto, spumone, and the warm hospitality of Salento.

Ciboperbacco: The authentic taste of lower Salento

Ciboperbacco is one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the summer in Melissano, a small town in lower Salento in the province of Lecce, Puglia. Created to highlight local products and regional excellence, the festival transforms the historic center for two nights into a grand culinary journey, where rural traditions, Salento wine, and folk music blend into a unique atmosphere of conviviality.

The squares of taste

The heart of the event lies in the town's three main squares—Piazza Marconi, Piazza Garibaldi, and Piazza Vecchia—often joined by Piazza San Francesco and local courtyards. Each square has its own identity: food stalls featuring Salento specialties, a dedicated wine-tasting area, street food zones, and markets selling local crafts and produce. You will also find iconic Salento desserts like pasticciotto and spumone, alongside craft beer.

Wine, music, and tradition

Ciboperbacco is, above all, a tribute to Salento wine, with a special focus on rosé, which takes center stage during guided tastings and meetings with local producers. The culinary experience is always accompanied by a rich live music program: bands, DJs, and folk groups enliven the evenings, bringing the sounds of the pizzica and Salento tradition to the streets.

An event for the whole family

The festival is designed for all ages, with entertainment areas and activities for children on both nights. Admission is free, making Ciboperbacco the perfect opportunity to discover Melissano and lower Salento in a festive, open-air setting. The event is organized by the Pro Loco Melissano with the patronage of the Municipality of Melissano and the collaboration of organizations like Slow Food and the Italian Sommelier Association.

Melissano and lower Salento

Located just a few kilometers from the Ionian coast, Melissano is an agricultural village in southern Salento, a land of vineyards, olive groves, and ancient gastronomic traditions. Ciboperbacco is the perfect occasion to savor the identity of this territory, between a glass of wine, a dish of traditional Salento 'cucina povera', and the notes of a tarantella.

Ciboperbacco — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Ciboperbacco is scheduled in Melissano for July 29 and 30, 2026. The festival will take place as usual in the historic center's squares—Marconi, Garibaldi, and Vecchia—featuring selected food stalls, Salento wineries, street food areas, local artisan markets, and live music. Admission is free.

Ciboperbacco 2026

The Pro Loco Melissano, with the patronage of the Municipality of Melissano and the collaboration of Slow Food and the Italian Sommelier Association, has confirmed the dates for the 2026 edition: Wednesday, July 29 and Thursday, July 30, 2026. Once again, the historic center will come alive with food stalls, a dedicated area for Salento wineries with tastings, street food, local artisan markets, and the region's iconic desserts, from pasticciotto to spumone, not to mention craft beer.

The festival remains free to enter and confirms its nature as a widespread event across the town's squares, with live music and activities designed for families.
