The historic center of Matino becomes a journey through the wines and flavors of Salento
In the heart of Salento, the historic center of Matino, in the province of Lecce, hosts Borgo DiVino – Matino Wine Fest every summer, one of the most anticipated food and wine events on the Apulian calendar. For two evenings, the stone alleys, courtyards, and small squares of the old town turn into a grand gourmet itinerary, where local wine meets traditional products, handicrafts, and live music.
The event's format is captured in the motto "One Village. A Thousand Glasses.": dozens of Apulian wineries set up tasting booths along a route that winds through the historic center of Matino. Visitors, glass in hand, move from one stand to another, sampling the great reds of Salento—above all Primitivo and Negroamaro—as well as rosés, whites, and sparkling wines, in a journey through labels from small family estates to more established wineries. The wines are accompanied by the flavors of Salento's gastronomy.
Beyond the tastings, Borgo DiVino offers live music in the alleys, with concerts and bands ranging from Salento's pizzica to folk and world music, enlivening the evenings until late. The result is a widespread festival that enhances the historical and cultural identity of Matino, turning the village into an open-air lounge where one can move freely between one tasting and the next.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Sant'Ermete APS in collaboration with the Municipality of Matino. For 2026, the event is part of the "Sapori e Paesaggi di Matino" project, which ranked first in the Lecce provincial rankings and is funded by the Apulia Region: a recognition of the growth of a festival capable of attracting visitors from all over Salento to the historic center.
The stage for the event is the historic center of Matino, with Piazza San Giorgio and its surrounding alleys as the heart of the route. Matino is located in central Salento, a short distance from Gallipoli, Nardò, and the Ionian coast, in an ideal position to combine the festival with a holiday between the sea and the hinterland.
The sixth edition of Borgo DiVino – Matino Wine Fest returns on August 17 and 18, 2026, in the historic center of Matino, confirming its place as one of the most anticipated food and wine events of the Salento summer.
The format announced by the organizers includes a tasting trail through the village alleys with approximately 25 wineries and over 80 wines, mainly Primitivo and Negroamaro from Salento, accompanied by local products and live music throughout the two evenings.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Sant'Ermete APS with the Municipality of Matino and is part of the "Sapori e Paesaggi di Matino" project, which ranked first in the Lecce provincial rankings and is funded by the Apulia Region.
