About Ciaula Street Food

On the seafront of Gliaca, a seaside district of Piraino in the province of Messina, Ciaula Street Food transforms the Tyrrhenian coast into a vibrant gourmet village. This evening event blends Sicilian street food, live music, and entertainment to symbolically kick off the summer season in the Nebrodi area. Fourteen curated vendors showcase a changing Sicily that honors its roots, offering everything from arancini and fried fish to cannoli and craft beer, while the stage comes alive with DJ sets and guests tailored for a younger crowd.

A gourmet village on the Nebrodi coast

Ciaula Street Food takes place in Gliaca, the seaside district of the municipality of Piraino, along the Tyrrhenian coast of the Messina province, at the foot of the Nebrodi mountains. For one night, the promenade turns into a large space dedicated to food, wine, music, and local promotion, with the stated goal of symbolically inaugurating the Piraino summer season by combining flavors, entertainment, and local craftsmanship.

Sicilian street food takes center stage

The heart of the event lies in the fourteen selected vendors, chosen to represent the island's gastronomic identity through its many facets. Along the seafront, you will find arancini and assorted arancinetti, cones of fried fish, gourmet fish sandwiches, rosetta rolls with mortadella and pistachio, cannoli from Piana degli Albanesi, briosce con il tuppo with gelato, waffles, tacos, and couscous, alongside craft beer on tap and local wines. It is a culinary map that bridges traditional Sicilian heritage with contemporary influences.

Music, entertainment, and families

Alongside the stands, the evening features an entertainment program designed primarily for younger visitors, with live performances, dance shows, and a long series of DJ sets that keep the seafront lively until late at night. There is also a dedicated space for families and children, including an inflatable play area, confirming the event's popular and inclusive appeal.

A project supported by the Region

The event is co-financed by the Sicilian Region through the "Sicilia che piace" call for proposals, promoted by the Regional Department of Productive Activities, aimed at supporting events that enhance local territories and traditional products. The first edition, which was met with great enthusiasm, attracted visitors not only from the Tyrrhenian district but also from the wider Nebrodi area, proving the format's ability to draw crowds beyond the municipal borders of Piraino.
