The doom metal festival held in a deconsecrated church in Pinerolo
The Church of Crow Doom Festival is one of the most anticipated and original events on the Italian metal scene. Born to celebrate the slow, monolithic, and atmospheric sounds of doom metal in its funeral, death-doom, and epic forms, the festival has found its home in the deconsecrated Church of San Giuseppe in Pinerolo, in the heart of the historic center of the town within the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont.
The 18th-century building, nicknamed "Doom Citizen" by enthusiasts, has become the symbol of the event: its natural acoustics and the solemnity of the sacred spaces pair perfectly with the heavy, reverberating music of doom, offering a listening experience hard to find elsewhere.
Organized by Valerio Leynir Possetto through his Church of Crow project, the festival has built a reputation that extends far beyond national borders: the audience arrives from all over Europe and sometimes from much further afield. The stage hosts a mix of historic names from the global scene and emerging acts, with numerous exclusive sets and Italian premieres that make every edition an unmissable event for genre collectors.
The festival's philosophy combines the rediscovery of legendary bands with the promotion of new underground doom talent, in a balance that has led some to compare Church of Crow to the legendary German Doom Shall Rise.
Located at the foot of the Cottian Alps, Pinerolo welcomes hundreds of enthusiasts every spring, transforming the Piedmontese town into a small crossroads for the European doom scene. The event is also an opportunity to discover the historic center and the Pinerolo area, amidst mountains, history, and local traditions.
