For about a month — from early December until Epiphany — Umbertide, a town in the Upper Tiber Valley in the province of Perugia, lights up with its extensive Christmas program. Events and initiatives involve both adults and children, starting with Santa's Village set up inside the evocative Rocca, the city's medieval symbol.
The Author Nativity Scene and the Festive Lights
Among the most beloved events is the Author Nativity Scene along Via Garibaldi: a widespread exhibition that annually brings together dozens of artists from Umbria, Italy, and abroad, invited to reinterpret the theme of the Nativity. It can be visited until the end of January. The backdrop is provided by the festive lights illuminating the historic center and all the hamlets, thanks to the involvement of numerous commercial activities coordinated by the Vivi Umbertide association.
Markets, Nativity Scenes, and Concerts
The program also includes Christmas markets, traditional nativity scenes, concerts, and shows that animate the squares on December weekends. The event is promoted by the Municipality of Umbertide together with the Vivi Umbertide association, the Pro Loco committees, and local organizations, and is designed as a Christmas "for everyone," capable of uniting the center and the hamlets.

Christmas in Umbertide 2026 will bring back the extensive program of initiatives that annually accompanies the town in the Upper Tiber Valley from the weeks of Advent until Epiphany. Expected again are Santa's Village inside the Rocca, the Author Nativity Scene along Via Garibaldi, festive lights in the center and hamlets, markets, and musical events on December weekends.

The detailed program for the 2026 edition, with the schedule of markets, concerts, and entertainment, will be published in the autumn on the channels of the Municipality of Umbertide and the Vivi Umbertide association. The usual structure includes:

How to Get Here
Umbertide can be reached by car from the E45 (Umbertide exit) and by train via the Ferrovia Centrale Umbra (FCU) Perugia–Sansepolcro line. The Christmas decorations and the Author Nativity Scene are located in the historic center (Via Garibaldi) and at the Rocca.
Admission
